Big game.

Out: Swan, Reid
In: Seedsman, Tarrant

I know Tarrant will have only had one run, but we need him in the side to lend support to the backline. If he gets through the game and pulls up okay, let's bring him in.

Seedsman to come into the midfield rotation (outside) and one of Wellingham, Thomas, or Blair to spend more time in the centre square.

Re: Changes for game v Adelaide

ALthough it goes against our philosophy this year, I agree we have to rush Taz back in. Our defence just goes to water without strong key defenders down there. We want to pinch this game against the Crows - 9-2 at the break would be amazing.

Re: Changes for game v Adelaide

Thank god Walker got suspended because we'd be in serious trouble.

In saying that I still don't think we will be able to cover their taller players. Injuries to our KPB has been horrific this year. To be 6-2 is amazing considering the problems we've had.

Re: Changes for game v Adelaide

Buckley wont bring Tarant back in for a few weeks yet. He said it was a mistake last time.
Yep, unless Tarrant really plays well today, and then pulls up as close to 100% as possible, he won't go to Adelaide next week.

I'd save him for the Suns game, a nice easy transition back.

As Dave said though, I'll wait till after I see the VFL team play today, as the likes of Young, Williams and co will compete for the 2 open positions next week.

Re: Changes for game v Adelaide

We can't afford to bring tarrant in, if he goes down that means, brown, reid and tarrant will all be down and when they come back all lacking match fitness. Remember Taylor Walker is suspended so we won't have to worry about him, just send Keefe to Tippet and hope for the best. As for the rest of the ground we should be able to match it with them. After adelaide we got Gold Coast?, Melbourne and then the bye. No point rushing players back, risk of getting re-injured when we'll be right for the next 3 weeks.

add jolly to the list. he looked very ginger in that last few minutes. hurt himself again id say. :(

i said during the week i wasnt concerned about the cats game - i simply wanted a top effort against a contender, and thats what we got.

its the same again this week, except this time it is away, and we will be down a few top end players. id play some kids for the next three weeks - give up to 6 of them 2 games each, including a promoted rookie or two. playing the crows will be tough as expected, but the dees & suns will be walkovers no matter, so its certainly the opportunity to blood kids who deserve two games, with the view that the best could be part of something special in the run home after the bye.

we need more players with 5-6 minimum games come september.

Other than Tippett, who Keeffe will take, they only really have the raw Jenkins as a tall forward, don't they? We'll have to roll the dice with Maxwell on him I think. No point rushing Tarrant back and jeopardising our season.

We have an 8 day break to their 6. Hopefully our sore players will recover better.

OUT: Swan, Reid
IN: M.Williams / Seedsman / Ugle [VFL form pending, two of these guys]

Wellingham into the midfield to replace Swan. Goldsack and Sinclair will be vital in the forward line because we really need to pressure their half-back line. They have carved sides up with their drive from half-back this year.

The other option (very left field) is that you bring in a rookie like McNamara or Hartley to hold down a KPD for a week until Tarrant comes back.

Or you send someone like Dawes back for a week and bring in a Witts or Ceglar to play forward. Shame Paine is hurt - he would be a good chance.

I don't think either of these will happen though. I think we will bring Taz back.

some random thoughts of mine:

- Hang me, but Harry is lucky we are short of defenders, IMO is looking a little lost out there ATM
- Cam Wood in against Jacobs, Jolly forward?
- Reluctant to move Goldy back, been fantastic forward, Tom Young in down back?
- Big plus having Did's back, was brilliant in the first half
- Daisy was quiet tonight, did a couple of OK things, but we can expect more over the next few weeks
- Buckley will probably play as a starting back

In the mix for a call up? (in no order): Ugle, Young, Seedsman, Yagmoor, Elliot

All in all, we're playing 2nd rate football and winning, always a good thing. If we can get a settled team for more than one week in a row FFS, we may really get some improvement.

Over the next 3 weeks, Ade/GC/Mel, if we can win at least 2 of those and be 8-3 at worst, that'll be OK reckon

I was thinking along the same lines of your left field option, perhaps sending Dawes back or bringing in the yank. Hartley is in a moon boot and not an option. Tarrant should be nursed back to health and fitness and not rushed back in. If we lose a game, so be it.

Reid's quad injuries keep recurring and he seems likely to miss a lot of games this year.

O'Brien is having a bad year and needs a spell in the VFL but there are too many injuries happening to allow this to take place.

With Reid out I'd love to see Shae Mac come in for a week.

Given we have two extra days rest and Walker is out that doesn't look too bad. I'd like to see Ugle start with Seedsman sub.

We really need Carlton to hurt the Crows on that rock hard Etihad surface and hope we recover better; need all the advantage we can get atm.

Thomas must lift.

Re: AFL Round 9 - Collingwood v Adelaide Crows - Sat 26/5/12 - 7.40 pm - Changes and Prematch Discus

I'd like to see Marley Williams, have a look at the kid. Goldsack's doing a good job forward, which surprises me a bit, so I'd hate to see him moved. I'd give Ugle the sub vest again.
May be a bit shorter than we'd like down back though.

IN: Young, McNamara (Elliott/Ugle)
OUT: Swan, Reid

I know that is a massive risk putting Shae Mac in, but he has been doing well in the VFL. Tarrant has been playing forward so far in the match today, so I doubt he would be good with a full match in Adelaide. Or alternatively, you could play Goldy and Maxy in Reid's place, and replace Goldy up forward with Elliott or Ugle.

Others pressing for selection are Yagmoor, Ugle, Elliott.

I don't think McNamara has been doing that well, in fact if you read the Coaches reports on a Monday, he barely gets a mention, with stuff like "Shae played across half back" being a huge comment. All the other players get a decent write up.
So I guess if he is not getting recognition for anything in the 2nds I can't see him getting a game in the seniors.
