Bomber said last night that the JPod will definitely play on Friday night. I'd think it it will be to give him some experience and see how he goes playing at night and in front of a big crowd as his first big crowd against Carlton showed some nerves.

Blake showed some good form last night with 20 possessions...when has he ever got 20??? Granted, there were 16 handballs in that. With Josh Fraser seemingly out of favour at the Pies a good opportunity to continue playing the Hawk in the ruck for periods.

Two 6 day breaks for the Cats won't help them but thankfully last night's game wasn't too intense.

With Kelly and JPod back looks like Duncan and Hogan will be the first out. Hard choice though to drop two young and quick players.

To be honest I dont mind if we drop this one so long as we dont get belted. History says that if we lose to a team, the next time we see them we win. That worked out really well for us in 2007 (port) and 2009 (saints). It would be hilarios if it happens again.

Still, for my own sanity during the finals I hope the magpies dont make it that far.

Outs are an interesting problem. I think Hawk was great and should keep doing some ruck work, but who makes way for pods? Duncan makes way for kelly, but I really like the speed we have had lately. Ablett, Varcoe, Byrnes, Wojak, Hogan. Thats some serios speed and I love watching them get a meter and just run away from their opponent. As much as I love the Pod, I wish we could do it without sacrificing these players.

Did anyone else watch last week and think Brisbane looked slow? For me that brought back memories of 2006 and our one paced midfield. I would hate to go back to that.

Just watched the presser and Bomber said Pods will play, so that's in, would assume Kel too.

Kel for Duncan speaks for itself (though the kid is good) then I would assume an unlucky Hogan goes for Pods.

Hawkins played well in the ruck. To me, it's just like sometimes he tries to think too much (see not wanting to kick for goal even) whereas in the ruck he doesn't seem to think as much, he just runs around and goes at the footy and the man with it, and it's great. Particularly as Fraser will probably be his ruck opponent, that's a good matchup I think.

I'm a little worried about speed in Collingwood's forward line, but Lonners has done well so I think he'll hold his spot.

G is estimating 85k apparently, I'm going with some mates and really looking forward to it. If there's one Melbourne game for every Cats member to get to, this is it...let's pack the place out!

Hey all, I think whether or not this game is a real contest will come down to the Collingwood ins.

The club needs the likes of Medhurst and Wellingham against Geelong just to be competitive IMO, so selection on Thursday may well decide if we have a chance or not.

I know you guys are also missing Ottens, Corey and Rooke (anyone else of real note?) so unfortunately it looks like both sides won't quite be at 100%, but pretty close to it.

I think the inclusion of Jolly and the in form Ball might close the gap a bit, as the prelim was a little bit unfair on us, with Pendles out and Swan injured but playing.

If we have Meds and Wellers included this week, I can see this being the game of the home and away rounds, if not, I think the Cats might run away with it late and win by over 5 goals.

Can't wait, ignore the live TV coverage and get to the ground, we want the best atmosphere possible.:thumbsu:

Colonwood are good this year, there second tier have seemingly stepped up against lesser opposition - however lets not forget the St Kilda game where a few boys where made to look so-so.

Will be interesting, but i;m sure if we put in our best performance, our best is better then there best.

Looking forward to seeing if Hawk can match a Jolly or Wood in the ruck, and whether the Dawes/Cloke combination can stand up to Scarlett/Taylor/Lonergan..... Our clearance work without Ottens still needs to improve; we are still capable of more

Kel definitely needed....has been playing a cracking season so far.

Would imagine Hogan, Duncan will be stiff, but hey thats the way the cookie crumbles.

I take it Corey is definitely a week or two away, if anyone has an update on Otto' would be good to hear.

Re: Is the Geelong v Collingwood game live into Melbourne?

I was just watching the Carlton v Port Power game and dear old Bruce McAvaney made the comment that the Geelong v Collingwood game is live into Melbourne from 7:30pm?

Is this true or a hoax?

Will Channel 7, Lewis Martin and Ian Johnson decide to go live against the gate?

Or, is dear old Bruce trying to suck up to the AFL for the new Broadcast rights?

Stay tuned. The Governor will be on KB's talkback hour with Patrick Smith tomorrow morning!!

Re: Geelong vs Collingwood: Live

This is puzzling to me, seeing as how Channel 7 always have dug their heels in, in the past over their precious "Better Homes and Gardens" rubbish. And also seeing as how the match isnt even a sell out yet.

Anyway.. as for the tickets, was very disappointed with what I got. Friday I looked up tickets if I was just a person buying tickets without a membership (ie. paying full price) and got M54 row G. Tried to upgrade memberships and could only get Level 4, what a ****ing suprise.

Kept getting level 4 today, so didnt want to miss out, settled on the Great Southern Stand, near the wing Row R. Olympic stand was only offereing rows in the double letters- screw that.

How tall is Collingwood's forward line?

Could Lonners make way for Pods, Kel back in for Duncan/Hogan and Kel to play a defensive role?

it'll be another flogging

we've added a gun forward in pods and they've added an out of form ruckman and a mediocre midfielder

10 goals +

They are getting pwned in the time slot by masterchef.

Depends. They went with three talls against Freo but they might drop Anthony.

I do not for the life of me understand why anyone could possibly say we are at the latter end of an era? We are getting better and better, we are already a 15% better team than last year and have plenty of youth coming through. We are pumping teams again and playing a brand of football that is as exciting as 2007. There is no reliance on any individuals and the emergence of guys like Taylor, Varcoe, Lonergan, Hogan, Byrnes as genuine first choice 22 players is seamlessly covering the reduced load and loss of Harley, Milburn, Ottens, Rooke and Corey.... Man I can't even see a spot for Max at the moment and that is saying something!

Considering Chapman, Ablett, Johnson, Bartel, Kelly and Enright are at the peak of the powers and all in career best form (which is unbelievable considering their class) it is the most confident I have ever been in a Geelong team. We will loose a few games this season for sure, but as long as we make top 4 we will be shitting on anyone else come finals.

Colonwood are actually playing good footy at the moment, but they are not in our class. If we improve on our clearance work - which understandably without Brad is not at its best - we will take Collingwood to pieces.

At the end of the year we will all be looking at Bomber Thompson as a modern day genius for succeeding this champion team and prolonging our dynasty by smart player and pre-season managment.

Could not be happier with what i'm seeing at the moment!

Well if we go what you think and do us in Big. Then you guys should not lose again this season and easily win the flag

Besides dropping an absolute lolly in the square, Lonners was pretty impressive the other night. Certainly shapes as a good matchup for Dawes - both big and a bit on the slow side. This will again allow the release of Scarlo - Taylor may well be quite busy on Cloke this time around.

Kel comes straight in for the hard contested ball - alternating through the midfield rotation. With Hawk in the ruck, we will have a nice balance with Talls and smalls, especially now with Varcoe, Stokes and Byrnes all up and running.

Luke Ball would be a chance to miss judging from his knee on friday; it is the younger brigade of Sidebottom, Beams and Welllingham that we have to pay a bit more respect to this time around.
