I'm a melbourne member but we aren't going.
I said it back in 1991. No chance in hell am I ever going to a game involving Collingwood. (ok, I might think about a GF) Bunch of feral losers and I'm not subjecting my kids to them.

Re: Is this weeks game a home game?

I'm tipping the Pies this week. And that's nothing against the Cats. They're both in A Grade form.

But after watching both the Dockers v Magpies match and Lions v Cats match on TV it seems to me that both results on paper painted a different picture than the footage. I thought Collingwood dominated more than the final margin suggested and I thought Geelong were essentially playing against wounded rabble.

Make no mistake, Collingwood are white hot at the moment, and I bet they are slightly more keen to win. I have full confidence in Thompson and Ling to get it together when it counts at the end of the year, though.

I was really pleased for Hawkins, but please let's not overplay his contribution. Before we pass judgement, let's see how he goes head-to-head against Wood, rather than Maguire and Spanger.

Even though we have been good in september, does anyone else notice we tend to struggle most (especially in front of goal) when there is a violent loud crowd against us at the G.

It seems we get the wobbles when teams like the pies and hawks (and blues) have the agro crowd against us..Perhaps thats the cause for our goal kicking yips..

it always feels like an interstate game game when we play collingwood, their crowd always seems to be a big advantage for them..

This Friday will be huge, but like another poster said, we shouldnt treat it as that huge, we do have 13 more weeks to focus on before finals

Sydney werent an injured rabble IIRC

and Hawkins isnt our only foward

do you still have the fear from 89-95?

Hey guys, I am a Melbourne member and was just wondering how early I should get the G for general admission. I guess pretty early because its the Pies home game?

It's going to be a long week at work and am really looking forward to Friday.

Cheers

I can understand your view, and I don't want to start telling you how to bring up your kids, but sometimes it's great to confront 'the horror', and to let the young ones know how lucky they are to be in the Cats family. Tough love and all that nonsense. I know from my own experience the valuable life lessons learnt from standing on my own at Victoria Park outer as a 12 year old, watching in quiet disgust, at the human condition. Amazing to think they even allowed kids into the venue to witness it all.

Yeah I know, but they are only 6 and 2.
I wouldn't go anyway. I've only broken my rule once in 18 years. I went to a pies v roos game with mates. I shouldn't have. They are not human.

True dat. I guess we all hope they bring that form.

My only point here was that it will take more than one very good performance against non-ruckmen in Maguire and Spanger to cement Hawkins as Geelong's best second-ruck.

do you still have the fear from 89-95?

Nope. As I said, I have full confidence in Thompson and Ling to get it together when it counts at the end of the year

Re: Geelong vs Collingwood: Live

Will still be 8:30 in little ole perth.

It'll be on the at the Inglewood for the Perth Cats at 6pm.

I agree with those saying this is more important for the Pies than it is for us, they're still desperate for validation from their peers. I think we can do them though, we're amazing to watch at the moment and I think playing the best we have since 2007. We just have to watch being unbalanced with Pods and Kelly coming back.

You should be very concerned about Collingwood's pace. I think this could be the difference on Friday night. Pies by 18 points.

How many of these 'pacey' players you're talking about played in the prelim final last year ??? Does'nt matter how quick you are if you aint got the pill.

I think people get confused with pace as distinct from moving the ball quickly - the latter being something both Cats and Pies do better than any other side ...... Geelong has done it for the last 4 years without having the 'quickest players'.

Also - if Collingwood are so quick why do they still go 'wider' than any other team in the comp instead of going down the guts ?

Friday night a sell out??

Hey, was just wondering if anyone is booking seats or just rocking up and scanning their memberships on Friday night?
I had a look on ticketek and they are selling Q56 which is the last bay in the olympic which suggest alot of bays have been sold on the top already?

But you went to a Collingwood V North game and would go to a GF involving Collingwood?

Closet supporter imo.

Errr...Wojinski, Byrnes, Varcoe, Hogan, Ablett all say a big speedy hello.
Your "pace" got you nowhere last year, and I can't see you've added any this year.
You should be concerned at your medium forwards' and on-ballers' inability to perform against us when it matters.

who cares what the result is on friday imo we will not get close to you in september when it matters...

Any other AFL memebers a bit confused with getting tix for this game? It was listed as a "walk up" match on the AFL membership site until this morning. Yet still the only tickets offering up are the top of Level 3!
