Very tall in defence once again, I wouldn't mind swapping Lonergan for Hogan.

I hear you...there's still a chance that could happen though depending on how many talls Collingwood play.

Interesting to note Dawson is not an emergency so no chance of a second ruckman no matter what.

I also think we are rewarding young Hunt to let him know he is playing well, as Amos said during the week.

I don't want to make any outrageous or bold predictions on margins... basically cos i have only gotten close once ever!!

i would like to think that we should have the pies covered, I hate to admit it but the pies are playing good footy at min, looked very good against freo last week. That being said they are having a dream run with injuries at the moment and who knows if they will be able to maintain this throughout the course of the year..

Should be a great game.. the pies always seem to start well with us and put us under a lot of pressure.. but we have also shown an ability to crack them open and get a run of goals.. (bar the game in 08) i think the key is getting on top of there half back line and making them accountable.. if they actually start manning up and worrying about an opponent they loose a lot of drive

Channel Seven are pumping this game up as if it's bigger than all three of our grand finals put together. I'm glad I won't have to listen to Bruce salivating all night.

2008, Round 9 - Collingwood 134 def. Geelong 48
2007, Prelim - Geelong 92 def. Collingwood 87
2007, Round 15 - Geelong 80 def. Collingwood 64

Head to head.

We smashed you in 2008, and were pretty close to the mark in 2007. Then when you consider we also smashed you in 2006, that is reasonable form prior to 2009.

Did you fail at comprehension in primary school though? Because, I've stated several times that I agreed with the original poster.

Don't know how anyone can use '06 results as any kind of form guide. Obviously that was before we began playing at the level that we have been and we were very inconsistent that year.

You would think that if you were going to look at any past results, it would be the ones from last year but I guess it looks a lot better to dwell on the games from two or three years ago where Collingwood caught Geelong on a rare down day or "came close", which seems to constitute a win for them apparrentley.

Maybe the reason Collingwood cant win any finals is because they think that getting beaten by under 20 points constitutes a win.

Facepalm! Read the posts in context.

I was responding to someone who said that we'd only had "one" good game against you guys. I AGREED with that person, but mentioned that going back a couple of years our form against you guys was actually reasonable (bar 2009).

What is the relevance of games 4 years ago to this current match?
None.

Was just looking at how different our team tonight will be from the team who played in the Prelim last year.

In: Stokes Hunt Podsiadly Lonergan
Out: Ottens Corey Harley Rooke

Not to mention we have a fully fit SJ this time around, not a SJ 22 days removed from hip surgery. Don't know if those changes make our side tonight stronger or weaker than the Prelim final side. Otto and Corey are big omissions, but we have gained the kicking prowess of Hunt (we struggled at times to clear our backline in the Prelim final, especially early) and Pods has been a revelation up forward.

What does everyone think? Are we going in weaker or stronger tonight, compared to our Prelim final side?

I still think that some dark force is at work here. It just isn't right that freo are at the top end of the ladder.
I think you're onto something. im sure tteams would've figured them out by now.. we did!:D

but sydneys ground wont suit freo cos it is suck a small ground, the 50m arc is inside the centre square ffs.

Corey is a massive out, still one of our best IMO. From memory SJ played well last time, it was the week after that he showed the results of not being fit. If Pods keeps on the same form, then the ins and outs pretty much balance up.

No doubt Hunt kicking in is a thing of beauty.

If everyone is on song, we should win. Blake is there to win tap outs, that's where we need to start by dominating the centre clearances.

The sarcasm meter seems to a bit off here mods (re: deleted post).

Why was the post about a rumour about Ablett not playing tonight deleted as well?
Because there is no basis for it and it then creates a reaction by others which then creates unsociable behaviour.

If you have a source for the rumour let us know. Otherwise you might as well be making it up.

It was SEN this morning. Perhaps that could have been asked prior to deletion?

Plenty of people were contacting SEN to say that he is not playing due to injury. KB asked Neil Balme, and Blame didn't really want to discuss it, which is fair enough. He first response was a throwaway line that Ablett is on the Gold Cost signing a contract, then he said yes he is playing, and then no he isn't an so forth. Essentially, he was just being a smartarse about it. So, it sounded like he was trying to dodge the question.

Like I said in the first post, it is probably just crap.

Reading the pies board they are very, very confident tonight, but at the same very nervous and afraid of going down, while I think we seem to be more 'business as usual', the lid is well and truly off at the Westpac Centre, hopefully we can put an break to such optimism
