Port in the 8, looks like Lauren no getting sacked then, target finals.
Context is everything. After winning only 3 games in our previous two seasons, making the eight this year would be an achievement. However, if this were Arnell's 12th season then it would be inconceivable that the bar would be set that low.

Wouldn't it?

Our run home:

  • 17th at home
  • 9th at home (who we’ve matched up very well on since we joined the comp)
  • 18th
  • 15th at home

We couldn’t, could we?

After the brutal first part of our draw, we come home against sides in a more equitable tier of experience and level. Given this is at least a 2 speed competition, we will have done really well.

I thought we looked much better against Adelaide than we ever had even though we lost, the 2 away games against top 4 teams were frustrating but understandable. Even the home loss to a Freo who are knocking on the door of the top 4 was a near thing.

West Coast have been a surprise packet this year and we took them down comfortably away.

Fingers crossed.

Who was the brain dead moron at AFL House who decided to schedule a Port home game against the Socceroos playing one of their rare games in Adelaide?

It’s still school holidays and with the freebies that the club is handing out it’s a no brainer where mum & dad will want to take the kids. Entrance at the AO will be sky high.

The Socceroo game is all but a sell out, there will be 50,000 there.

It's an idiotic piece of scheduling that cannot be justified. There was no reason to put those two games up against each other.

Playing at home, favourites with the bookies, stand alone game and opposition with injuries.

Seen this episode before.

Prove me wrong girls.

The girls really turned a corner in that performance against Carlton, then backed it up with a huge come from behind win in the West. It makes this now the most important game in the brief history of the team.

We must win and win comfortably. Our percentage is ok Vs those around us, but if we could take advantage of playing the equal bottom side at home and jump up in line with the Saints, we're putting ourselves firmly in finals contention. A 5 to 6 goal win would do it and put us in the 8 at the end of the round.

The disconnecting gap in the comp though is still silly though.
0-4 against the current top 6
3-0 against the rest

Yep, what kind of f**kwit doesn't go forward in time to check for clashes like that? :drunk:

(AFLW fixture was announced 30/5/2024, Soccoroos game was announced 17/7/2024)

They've had nearly 3 months to change it around. If only the AFL could be flexible with game scheduling 🙄
