Clarko key to new Zurhaar deal

North Melbourne will be desperate to secure the services of Alastair Clarkson so they can help land a new deal for Cam Zurhaar.

The Herald Sun revealed earlier this year Zurhaar’s talks had been postponed until the off-season.

There are clearly rival suitors for a player who has kicked 30 goals this year but the delay is more likely to have fattened his contract than set him up to leave for another club.

Landing an established coach like Clarkson would clearly help players like Zurhaar decide their football futures.

The club is yet to offer Curtis Taylor a new deal, with the wingman playing every game this year after 19 last season.

Surely he is part of their plans but he is one of a number of players yet to be offered deals despite their excellent form.

Jed states his case for new deal

Six months ago, Jed Anderson’s AFL career was in limbo; now the tough Kangaroos midfielder-forward is strongly pushing his case for a new two-or-three year deal.
In what has been a bleak season for North Melbourne, Anderson has barely missed a beat since returning to the senior side in Round 8.
He missed the club’s pre-season after delaying his second Covid vaccination following an adverse reaction to the first dose, doing his own training up in Darwin across the summer.
He returned to Melbourne in late February and was back playing VFL football in April.
The Kangaroos are in preliminary talks with the 28-year-old about a new deal off the back of his solid form in providing some strength and grunt to the young mix.
Anderson has proven an important player in difficult circumstances since his AFL return.
Champion Data has rated Anderson as above average for a mid-forward in disposals (22.2), contested possessions (8.8), clearances (3.6) and tackles (4.3) in his 12 games this season.
The Kangaroos are on the hunt for a new coach, with Alastair Clarkson in the frame as the leading candidate.
Anderson played three seasons under Clarkson at Hawthorn.

Who is on the Clarkson dream team?

'Nah, nah, I can't, I can't, what's the next question'

Kingy's half joking suggestion that Clarko be drafted to ease the pressure on the soft cap, and then that the AFL should combine the hard and soft cap to allow for flexibility, suggest that fitting Al and his assistants under the soft cap is proving challenging (although not insurmountable).

Kingy not mentioning names but saying it's a blank canvas for Clarko, except for any current staff contracted next year, was also revealing. Have to laugh (again) when Kingy said a month ago with a straight face that Ross Lyon was his preferred candidate. Absolute red herring, it's been 'Al' all the way for Kingy.

Originally I assumed you were going to post a new pic of various morbidly obese orangatangs every day.
I'm kind of disappointed there's just the same chimp each day. How's a guy gonna build his collection!?

I think we’ve signed Clarkos..

Caro- thaths the spirt. Mention cash sthrapped a few times and they should have gone to the GC. And they’ve had 153 coaches some since 1891.
Corn- is that true 153 coaches?
Caro- shut up Corn, it doesn’t matter.
Corn- should I mention they haven’t any recruiters?
Caro- yeth
Corn- in fairness their recruiters weren’t any good. So wasn’t a bad decision to move them all on. Should I say that ?
Caro- fucth no !
Caro- mention also the smart money is on a Tassie relocation very soon. Wheelrh are in motion.
Corn- are they ?
Caro- fucth noseth , more likely to have two teams on the GC than one in Tassie. Don’t say that though. I have a lot of family from Tassie.

What dreck this is. The article admits the delay in signing his contract is clearly to get more money but then immediately states Zurhaar would be more likely to sign if Clarko did. So is it more money or is it not having a coach? Talk about trying to have it both ways

That last sentence is a war crime against journalism and proper sentence structure as well

Don't think Pyke is going to be an option given the camp business. Absolute shamozzle that is.
Good coach tactically, which is why he's been praised for his work at Sydney.

However, he's a terrible people manager which is the last thing we need for our next senior coach and also probably why an assistant will be as big of a gig as he gets from now on.

If Ralph or Robbo are on the byline I'd be taking it quite seriously, but it looks more like a "Staff Writer" type wankjob where they give a couple of paragraphs for every team if I had to guess.

"Have you the covid again?"

"They haven’t any recruiters?"

Love Corn mysteriously using a medieval turn of phrase.

Just smacked of manager copy. Not even dressed up creatively.

And just fwiw, if this is Curtis Taylor's agent's idea of "excellent form".. I hate to see some average form..

Not great reading.
That fantasy average is low. But it is worth noting it is 12th best at the club.

It's so funny seeing these pox excuses for yellow journalists be teetering on the balancing act of trying to always pose the outcome of if it didn't happen in every article they spend 15 mins to write and get paid to sit on their ass and give what is essentially an opinion with 1% fact.

I can hear and see the teeth just grinding to make an effort to make it seem like this is all some ridiculous fantasy and not some clearly inevitable reality.

If you can't hear those war drums beating now, you're deaf as a doorknob

He'd be in the conversation for our 2020s Hall of Fame.

Actually there's an idea in that.

The acurate one is it too early to make a North Melbourne team of the 20s? Should we make it both 1920s and 2020s to allow us to form a full side?

What he wants out of 'us'.

Something has changed with Damo.
That's not Damo now referring to North Melbourne as 'us' he was quoting Sonja Hood.

Having said that it was a very unusually positive conversation about North from Damo,
I don't think he actually said anything negative, which surely is a first.

Just saw Clarko walking into the real estate agents on Errol Street carrying a massive royal blue and white novelty cheque for $1.69m.

Thinking outside the box a little bit, but whats everyone’s thoughts on using blackmail as a way for AC to make a decision quicker. Don’t really know what to blackmail him with, but surely one of posters that’s using all the giphys and stuff can dig something up on the interweb.

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.
Warm Regards.
