WHy?

The two issues are completely separate imo.

We need a decent coach which we haven't had for years, we also need more onfield talent to work with.

Clarkson in, PP or two in - Premiership number 5 in 3-5 years.

Make it happen!

Nothing is ever separate with the AFL. Let us have extra soft cap, and not Pps, and it appeases the other clubs. Also gives them an in to increase soft cap again and we can’t really make much fuss.
We can’t cook the books like other ‘too big to fail’ clubs.

Well lets see what happens shall we.

I maintain we need to start being more proactive in pushing the boundaries, like other clubs do rather than being so subservient and "nice".

We are gong great guns off field, we are in a position to take advantage of that to now increase our talent on field.

Don’t get me wrong I would be absolutely rapt beyond belief if we get Clarko, but is a potential $1.6m irresponsible for the club to spend?

That’s all we can do. Can’t give a sniff of cooking the books though.

Although in the clip of Gill on Robos show the other night there was lots of innuendo that the afl were pushing for Clarkson to join North, maybe the pp is a sweetener.

Well it's out now - AC will coach us if we cough up the coin.

I assume this 3 hour Board meeting tonite is about putting together the press release for the big news - AC the new North coach!

$1.6m over 5 years - $8m for Clarko - he will pay that back in spades.

Just get it done now NMFC Board.
AFL assistance and other clubs mollified. Don’t like it, hopefully we still get pick 19.

He wants 1.6m
Get it done. Being debt free is great but means sweet f*** all if we are a basket case on-field.

Clarko brings so many additional benefits outside of being the greatest coach of the modern era…

  • Players wanting to play under him, whether that’s staying or coming
  • Assistants wanting to coach under him, willing to accept less $ to be apart of Clarko’s program
  • Industry respect and credibility
  • Player development, with a track record of getting the most out of young players

Probably pick that up on extra sponsorship the moment the ink dries..

Recipe for disaster.
I wouldn’t have thought so. We sit at around the 50,000 member mark. How many members would he bring on board? How many free agents would choose to play under him? He would boost our reputation on and off the field. I’d guess membership growth, sponsorship growth would not be linear, it would be exponential

would take soft cap relief to get clarkson over a priority pick from the AFL every single day of the week

i genuinely don't think we need the latter, but the former would be absolutely massive for the future of this club. make it happen, euge

I meant cooking the books. My bad.
