Interesting you think we can get a fantastic coach whose under contract and not known to be unhappy, but you call posters stupid for thinking we have a chance with Cameron, who's rumoured to want out.
Ok, because coaches and players have the same contract/trade rules...

Clarkson is a greater chance then JC, that's how little chance we have of getting JC

Seriously though what's he going to say during GF week.

By saying he hasn't even been asked it leaves it open for him to say he was approached after the GF.

It's also possible that we have contacted his management who have said it won't be discussed this week.

Still some to play out IMO

Did Clarkson coach the hawks before Buddy and Rough?

I wonder how good of a coach he is with limiterd star power on his list?

You make an interesting point, but every premiership coach had stars in their team.

What makes me believe he is the best coach is how Hawthorn have coped with injuries all year, and how they get the best out of their lesser lights in playing their role for the team.

If the rumours were true about potential targets - Clarko, Cameron and Davis inclusions I would be very certain we would be in the top 6 next year.

Actually any 2 of the above would almost guarantee us a top 8 berth. For starters, someone has to take Essendons place next year.
Even if we get another coach with different ideas, game plan, good relationships with the players.

One of Davis, M Talia, Plowman.

A fit Dangerfield.

Another pre-season for JJ, Tex, Crouches.

We should almost be guaranteed top 8 finish.

Clarko is a GUN coach

Won 2008 flag when Geelong was heavy favourites and almost unbeatable

Yes Clarko had Roughie and Buddy at his disposal however he was critical to their development and in 2008 the Hawks eon the flag with an average back 6, Clarko knew his back 6 were vulnerable and as a result implemented the Clarkson cluster to protect his defence

Also aided by Hawthorn having the best depth in the league.
But that comes back to the way he and their coaches develop the players in their system.
Yes he would be a major coup and it would be amazing if we are already talking to him.
Do you know his contract status?

Hmmm, he may flatly refuse our advances but to say he hasn't been approached would be crazy from an AFC point of view…cleverly worded me thinks.

Exactly, big difference between saying "I won't coach the crows next year" and "they haven't spoken to me...".

Chances are we wouldn't have spoken directly to Clarkson, but we very well could have an agreement all worked with his management, with him only needing to sign on the dotted line one the Hawks season is up.

I don't think there's much chance of us getting Clarkson, but players and coaches are generally pretty good these days with the media. They get their spin doctor training.
