Alistair Clarkson. Next Crows coach???

We haven't approached Clarkson yet, and of course we haven't spoken to him. He's preparing for a GF this weekend. Anyone who thinks he's also weighing up offers to coach another club in the midst of that is kidding themselves.

If we've got any nous whatsoever though, we've spoken to his manager and sounded him out. And if we have, his manager will probably talk to Clarkson about it after the GF next week and things will either stop or go from there.

So he's 100% right when he says we haven't asked him. That's why people have managers. So they don't have to deal with this kind of stuff and they can plausibly say at some stage down the line 'I never spoke to (insert club) until after the season ended'.

Wasn't the line from the AFC that we wouldn't speak to an opposition coach during GF week?

This may be true however this may have been put in place well before this week

Clarkson just confirmed he's not going anywhere

You really think he could come out 2 days from a GF and give any other answer?

Anything other than a "Definitive no" and the circus continues

As JP said, we know no more, or no less than we did yesterday

Im serious, I google to see if there was any info about Clarkson coming to the Crows from other media outlets or twitter accounts.
You should get a job with the 'tiser as you have investigative ability ... & too much bloody time on your hands!!

One thing that is overlooked here is that Andrew Jarman has damaged the process of getting Clarkson to the Crows by coming out with such unconfirmed and speculative comments made so publicly during a week which puts pressure on the Crows and more importantly, puts pressure on a man who is trying to concentrate on the biggest football game of the year (and the intense public scrutiny that comes with it).

If Jarman wants Clarkson to be coach of the Crows, he has gone a long way towards destroying that chance all so he could get on the record quicker then anyone else that if Clarkson does come to the Crows then he can be the one to claim the scoop. I'm pretty pissed off with Jarman, this is tacky journalism and he completely sold out any responsibility he had to the Crows in order to do his media thing.

And it wouldn't be the first time Jarman has been wrong, this guy has form in making huge claims that are a certainty to happen only to be dead wrong.

All I can say is that if the jury is still out as far as Clarkson is concerned about coaching the Crows, Jarman has helped to influence his decision not to come to the Crows. Jarman can be an A-Grade moron some times and this is just another example. I think Clarkson said it best when he described him as a "clown".

If MMM want to have any credibility in sport in Adelaide, they need to sack Jarman asap. He is a tool of the highest order.
They have Roo and Tredrea who have done brilliantly and are well ahead of 5AA. Jarman has just smacked them back in to amateur hour and made the whole station questionable.

Well Jarman just completely shut the door on that one for us, leaving Clarkson absolutely no choice but to come out and say what he did, or risk a distraction in GF week.

Even if there was a 5% chance that could have grown with the right offer, it's completely blown now. Clarkson would look like a traitor of the highest magnitude to switch clubs now after denying it.

Any form of membership this arse-clown has with the club should be stripped.

Maybe he meant Brendan Bolton?
-Comes from the school of Clarkson
-100% coaching record
-would be a good fit for your club

I just don't understand why he's not in most people's front-runners along with Dew and Bassett. Every Hawks supporter I've spoken to thinks he'd be the natural replacement if Clarko left.

I guess because he has no profile in Adelaide and he's a (relatively) unproven coach, he's low on most people's pecking order. But if we're going with a Dew or Basset type (which looks increasingly likely) I fail to see how he'd be behind them in the order given his pedigree and experience.

I felt the exact same way when Roo came out and said we should think about trading Sloane. Luckily that blew over but for a while there I thought, "Nice one Roo, way to piss off one of our stars."

Jars you are a twit of the highest order. (And Dittmar for revealing a candidate for the CE job!). Jars you have probably just ensured Clarkson will now never come to the Crows. Well done. Good move. And all for some media point scoring. Dill!!!

Ironically Bolton probably needed to coach a loss for people to judge him more thoroughly. Came across as Mr Happy with a gun team and no issues. Wasn't tested so we didn't see if he had any hard edge or ability to make decisions.

He nearly lost the first game against Melbourne!

were the hawks injury ridden at the time of his coaching tho? I forget. I know they had a bad year injury wise but cant remember what their team was like whilst he was there.

I still don't know why anyone believed him in the first place. He's got no idea. Even on the Channel 7 footy bumpers his knowledge extends as far as "whatever happened in that quarter will keep happening."
