I would take this with a grain of salt as they are (currently at least) the only station running such an angle. Considering the alleged offense was last night / this morning it is entirely doubtful that we would have such facts made to the public by anyone involved that there were another couple, the alleged victim was a former WAG from a tam that is not the Saints while the other individual in the room was a St Kilda listed player. This is extremely specific in narrowing down everyone in that room if you take a "4 person" line and specific during a recently undertaken and ongoing investigation smells of much BS on Channel 10's behalf. If this were the case, you would then assume that the police would be questioning the club to find out who his roommate is which would become common knowledge for anyone in the Moorabbin area, and yet, nothing on that front strangely.

Being an Eagles supporter , every pre season 2005 - 2007 something pretty average would happen usually around one of the best footballers I have seen in Cousins . I'd be horrified and dismayed by it all .
Players actions do have an effect on supporters and it is not pleasant . The Roth of the AFL penalties are also unsettling to the keen supporter .

Any Saints supporters who took the moral high ground over Carlton this week have been reminded the worm can turn very quickley. Admittedly, this website tends to be more about the instant gratification of one-upmanship but it really can be anybodys turn next, whether it be drunken antics, sex assault investigations or rubber chicken videos...

If true this scumbag will never play AFL again. Bad luck to the Saints, unfortunately some people cannot change even given the very best of environments and opportunities.

I don't know about 'playing' you, I think we were pretty upfront with his 'indiscretions'. Agreed, we did ok out of the trade, but if he had been able to keep out of trouble off the field, he would have been invaluable to you onfield. I really hope its not true.
Sorry, this ain't funny at all. Sometimes you've just got to put aside club rivalries and concentrate on the human aspect of stories such as this. There are no winners here.

Actually, Co-operating with the police is not is not a legal requirement, obstructing them is illegal but you are well with in your rights to say nothing. They can supenna you to court where you have to answer questions truth fully but you do not have to help, you jst cant obstruct.

Wow, bit of a shock this one. Then again I guess the bloke has a history so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.
As for St.Kilda suspending him pending the police investigation, this is 100% the correct decision.
Innocent until proven guilty no doubt, but these days clubs put such massive effort into building and enhancing their image for the purpose of selling memberships. Being seen to be soft on "problem" players is not a good idea as evidenced by Fev. Especially when it comes to sexual assault & rape, given that half the population is female.
It's a great pity, but we're living in an age of trial-by-media and the clubs are well aware of it.

The bloke doesn't have the best track record but I personally won't judge him on this particular incident unless he is convicted. We don't know anything about the victim in this matter and in Lovett's defence he is an easy target because of his history.
However, if he has done this then surely enough is enough and it's asta la vista from the AFL to Mr Lovett.

This guy has serious issues. Regardless of what happens with the latest drama I have seen this clown out on the drink and he has problems. I have seen him kicked out of clubs by security and lose the plot when he has too many drinks. I dont know what the hell he is thinking doing something like this, he has a girl friend also.

Since joining the club, in the space of 2 months he has had an alcohol related issue, and now allegedly sexually assaulted someone.
What does "ignoring his bad history" even mean? I am sure that the Saints considered his off-field history very carefully before recruiting him. They knew it was the main reason why they were getting a highly talented player comparatively cheaply. I suspect they would have recruited him on the basis that he would be put on a short leash.
The Saints had every right to suspend him, and would be an absolute laughing stock if they hadn't taken the action they did.
I guess they could have just attempted to get a court injunction in place to stop any media coverage of the issue and then deal with it internally...

I must be missing something with Andrew Lovett, I've always thought the Saints paid over the odds for him, not because of his off field issues more just the fact that he's been an inconsistent, injury plagued player his whole career. A first round pick these days would usually net you a top 10 player at your club (at the very least), he wouldn't be in the Saints top 10 (was he even in the Bombers?)
