I look forward to his Brownlow medal.

The point of naming Cooney.

Who has a worse injury that will never leave than Walker suffers.

I think he means because Walker went #2, behind Cooney at #1 in the 2003 draft.

Excitement machine. Injuries have held him back but by god he can play. Sorry Adam.
Why make this thread? They play in different positions and Cooney had an excellent early career and injuries have slowed him down a bit. Cooney is still a great player. Walker had an injury ridden early career after a stunning debut and is finally showing what he is capable of leave it there.

The most talented Daniher didn't end up being the best Daniher, because injuries held him back.

Like it or not, being lucky enough to avoid chronic injury is an important part of being a good footballer (Walker has had his fair share of trouble too, with his shoulder).

Cooney will never be as good as he could have been. What was once a gulf between that draft's No.1 and No.2 pick is slowly closing. We'll know for sure where they stand once they've both retired.

Obviously Cooney has more pure football talent. Walker is a superior athlete. Cooney has drawn the short straw with his knee. Walker's shoulder nearly finished him, but looks to have come good. We'll know in 5 years which one has been of greater value to his team.

Cooney's career will never be what it could of been, and that is particularly sad. Walker may have the better career, but not because he is better then Cooney.

If Walker manages to win a Brownlow then he will be equal to Cooney...Cooney will have the better career as it takes a quality player to win the Brownlow and didn't flop like other #1 draft picks.

Cooney at his prime was near unstoppable and still contributes a lot despite his knee.

Walker on the other hand...was trade bait 2 years ago...

Re-read the quote and note "may". As in Adam Cooney is the better player, and has had a better career, but Walker may have a better one because Cooney has been held back. Far-fetched to say but what if Walker wins a Coleman, or multiple AA's before career's end?

The year I lost all interest in the Brownlow was 1995.

Brett Ratten won Carlton's B&F that year: a Premiership year, a season in which we won 20 Home & Away games. And he played the whole season as an onballer, right under the umpire's noses.

Total Brownlow votes for that season? ZERO.

Because it was his first season as an onballer and he wasn't yet getting media coverage, and there was no 'talk' of Ratten, the umpires had no idea if he was any good or not, so gave him nothing.

They hand out Brownlow votes based on some weird 'vibe', not on actual performance.

The Brownlow Medal is a terrible way to judge the true worth of a player.

Settle down my fellow Bluebaggers, please
Walker wouldn't get near a fully fit Cooney, injuries have closed the gap somewhat though.

Cooney may not have been the best that year, but he was still amazing.

Definitely not unworthy of the Brownlow, there was just probably a player or so more worthy.

Really does say something though that the only pre season he had he won the brownlow.

Absolute jet at his best, which we probably wont see any more

Andrew Walker to go pass Cooney

They're going to be playing in the same side soon are they?

When the Dogs play the Blues Walker will probably pass Cooney sometime in the game.It might be in the Blues forward line or in the midfield or as they walk off at 1/2 time.

What an odd thread, but look who the OP is
