Seriously. I have read on a few other threads that we fear the Bomber faithful are going to start staying home instead of goiong to the games for the rest of the season.

Pathetic.

I would KILL to be able to watch my team every week and here all of you are, bitching and complaining and telling everyone how YOU would change the fortunes fo this great club.

I LOVE THIS CLUB and want EVERY single fan in Melbourne to stick with the club no matter what selections they make from here on in.

We are not bandwagon jumpers like Richmond or Wet Toast fans.

WE ARE ESSENDON.
AND WE DO NOT GIVE UP ON OUR OWN!

Get to the games, pack the stands ion the red and black and lets show this country that WE are the greatest, most loyal fans in the world, even when we are down.

No more jeering the players. No more booing the umpires.

Just get there, get loud and scream for this great football club harder than you ever have before and show them we are all in this together.

I was there at Subiaco when we played Fremantle. I stayed to the very end, and I will be there v Wet Toast later this year, AND I WILL BE THERE TO TO THE VERY END, regardless of the result!

AND I WILL BE RIGHT WITH ESSENDON UNTIL THE DAY I DIE.

I F**KING LOVE THIS CLUB!

Every team has their fringe supporters that only turn up when we're winning.

Ill be in my seat on Saturday and I'm sure there will be close to 50,000 there too.

It would be nice to see some unsocial football being played. If we are not going to win a game of football then at least wear your heart on your sleeve and attack every contest like your life depended on it.

The game against Hawthorn is the line-in-the-sand game going back to 2004. It should be played with total disregard for one’s own safety. To many times we go to a contest only to side step around it. Get your body in line with the ball and run straight at it, and what ever get’s in your way get’s collected.

Bombers, if we don’t win at least make a stand!

Fantastic! Great bloke. Let's get behind our boys!! :D

It's not easy for everyone to make it to every game. For me, I live a fair way out, and I work a lot of shifts including weekends. I'm a paid up member but on an average year I only make it to four or five games.
I will say that efforts like Friday night - which I went to - and left at three quarter time because I was getting nothing out of it, and was tired and miserable - don't encourage me to turn up more.

I honestly think our younger players are looking better than they have since 2000. I'd put my money on Heppell, Hurley, and Pears becoming stars. Zaharakis, Jetta, Hardingham, Bellchambers, Hibberd, Dempsey, Hooker, Ryder (if he gets his act together) and even Riemers becoming more than good. In 2-3 years, Watson will still be around, supported by Hocking, Lonergan, Monfries, Winderlich, Jake Carlisle. Who knows what Long will be able to do. :)

It's the most exciting bunch we've had for a long time. Just need to clear some dead wood.

i go to watch the game. Not just ours but i try to get to at least 2 a weekend.
If we arent up and winning, you watch for other things to be happy about.

From friday night, i was very impressed with a lot of individual games.
Zaha was seriously pissed about the effort and took the game on. Lonergan was like a mad bull at the start.
Very happy with Stanton's efforts over the last few weeks as well.

doubt the crowds will drop.
Will be good to get to my first geelong match this year too.

Well we did it last year so why not this year...because Hird is the coach.

It was all Knights' fault wasn't it?

We cannot cover injuries to key players we are repeatedly having (especially to the extent they are happening furing games).

We need to wait for the players drafted between 2006/07 and 2010 to become the core of the side. It will take another 20 to 30 games.

There is nothing more to it.

I'll be there, until the final siren.

But let's be honest, our fans are rubbish. I reckon we'd have been lucky to have 15k out of the 65k on Friday night.

How many clubs have so many whipping boys, who actually get abused in the outer? Stanton, Slattery, Dyson, Hooker, Myers, Ryder, Prismall.

Very true

And if we were in Richmond's position, I doubt our club would be at Essendon anymore. They have close to 50,000 members and have been shit forever- if we could maintain that kind of support with our lot then I'd be astounded.

...

coleman10, I wouldn't read too much into what most Essendon 'supporters' say on here in terms of attending games.

You'll find most on here (not all) are the teeny bopper type of supporter who may see one game (if that) live each year but generally tend to live the fortunes of the side from behind their computer screen.

I am surprised more glory hunter type supporters haven't jumped off after such an insipid period.

They're nothing to worry about though. Their threats are minimal. At the end of the day they'll jump on the wagon when things are going well and disappear into thin air when things get a bit tough. That's just the way they are and probably won't change, even with age and hopefully some maturity. Hence their (I could name a few of them) garbage threads and posts are best worth avoiding.

Name them.

many fans are not happy that welsh is in the side for starters and the possibility of him captaining the team this week will cause a lot of grief for a lot of dedicated fans.

if the players could show the passion the OP has stated then it wouldn't be an issue would it?

I would go but my mates are a bunch of soft ***** and I hate going to the footy by myself. Oh well, we have our tickets and accommodation booked for Adelaide so I'll be at that game at least.

Very much agree. I could only notice two Essendon supporters around us, disappointing. We have so many fans that are all talk, no action.

You wait until we win a few though, every man and his dog at the footy will be wearing our jumper (eg. start of season).

wish I COULD be there every week.

Where's this come from, Coleman?

Whomb,
I'm as frustrated as the next supporter as to the performances, and after Round 6 EVERYONE, including some high profile media "experts" were touting us as legitimate contenders. I have always remained realistic in the exectations of this list.

Sure, we were playing some impressive passages of footy early on, but in reality, we had not beaten a good side (now we know about StK and WB) until the Eagles (who have taken the next step and I hate THAT).
I have been telling anyone who would listen that we need to put it in perspective and be realistic about our expectations this year. I precicted we would finish between 12th and 16th and although we wont get a spoon (which in itself is comforting) we wont have improved in our win/loss from the Knights era.

It's just got to the stage where I was once reading bigfooty because it was a great source of information for someone who is on the other side of the country and not in the thick of things. And for most of the past, I have found the Essendon people on here to be well informed and educated about the club and the game. But this year, we have become (and at times myself included) a bunch of whinging Richmond supporters, who, when things are going well, talk about unrealistic Premierships, and when things go awry we start smashing individuals. I am sick of it and it needs to stop.

(Side Note: I will admit that I have been critical of Brent Stanton from Day One and have posted my thoughts on here from time to time, but in my defence I always have been that way and that won't change. The thing is I won't get on here and publicly berate the guy ever again, and I would never BOO ANYONE in red and black).

We, as faithful and honourable Essendon supporters, MUST (and I mean MUST) keep the faith in James Hird and his team, no matter what they decide.

So, as soon as your 2012 membership pack arrives in your inbox, forget about onfield performance, and think about making a difference.
Don't hesitate and SIGN UP IMMEDIATELY and lets show the rest of the nation that we ARE different to the others.
I have been a fully paid up BRONZE Member (or equivalent) for near on 20 years and live in Perth, so if I can do it, so can everyone else.
In 2012 my two kids are becoming members for the first time. My 5 year old daughter cried after her first football game against Fremantle, and that made me feel great.

I F**KING LOVE THIS CLUB! is my new signature.

Coleman out.
