I cannot stand American sport comparions to AFL. It demonstrates that the current commentators do not know enough of their own sport's history - which has a longer codified set of rules and history of play than almost any sport worldwide - and it demonstrates their lack of interest in the game itself as a watcher, because were they interested they would know.

Best commentators are prolific fans of the games they follow, and relate to it as a viewer who knows about what they're watching. These fools are not fit to wear their shoes.
