Sydney's Rock n Roll Wrestling have announced a show the Friday night of the AEW show at the Caxton. Good on them for finding a venue over the road from the stadium, and for apparently seeking to put on an event that will work around AEW events.

Tickets for PWL/Renegades aren't exactly flying off the shelves, but the Caxton might attract a different, more casual audience.

7 seats left for Renegades today. So get on down

Did anything happen?

Social media would suggest it was either the dullest event ever, or everyone who went is on a social media lockdown. First show of theirs that I've missed this year.

Renegades was a solid show, a few debuts and a lot of it felt more like story building. I guess the analogy that best describes the show was it felt like the old Fresh/Mikey MCW where they would have Essendon events to build guys up between the big Thornbury shows. MOTN was Aysha vs Caity, silly finish aside. Also Jarvis vs Waterman was very solid and the debuts of Mitch Connors (Isiah from Mayhem Pro) and Matty Romano (a Carlo Cannon trainee who has wrestled in Malaysia) were impressive.

I agree with the assessment of the women’s match - Aysha has always been a good character, but she has improved significantly in the ring over the past 12-18 months.

I was broadly unfamiliar with Famous B beforehand, but I thought the main event title match was good too.

They are like a nugget that just won't flush,

I was literally about to post the same thing.

I really enjoyed their first couple of years when they were ambitious and they were carving out a niche (that included a lot of non-death matches.)

But after the last couple of years I can't even imagine what would have to happen for me to give them another chance. And I suspect that's the case for a lot of people. I'm not sure who they're promoting to any more - even the 40-50 people going to the Mat Earth shows at Preston aren't really supporting DMDU. It's just a free event/free wrestling at a decent brewpub with a good beer selection. And a couple of the Mat Earth shows earlier this year were promoted locally as that - "Mat Earth Society" with no mention of DMDU.

Those same people aren't going down to Seaford or out to Derrimut or wherever the **** their last show was.

Even if they were defrauded by the marky ECW idea why did it take so long for them to pay everyone back? Why was DMDU able to continue to run shows? How was Joel able to go overseas 3-4 times before everyone was paid? How were internationals/interstaters brought out? IF Joel has paid everyone back it was only because people constantly hounded him for it and he became blacklisted over it, I fully believe that his first intention was not to pay anyone back and hope it blew over.

Even away from that situation the stories on him are that he doesn't pay wrestlers unless they are "big names", he lets wrestlers do deathmatches whilst still in their infancy as wrestlers, he doesn't draw, he books for the most part shit talent, the list is endless.

Hope he draws 20 people and goes out of business again.

I'm actually surprised that DMDU is being rebirthed, Bateman seemed to be all in on running those Brainbuster shows in Werribee, with the same collection of mediocre APW talent as every other APW affiliate. I believe there had been been mention of wanting to do a deathmatch on a Brainbuster show but the Werribee Masonic is such a tiny venue that it would be idiotic.

As someone who lives in the South West suburbs, I'm passionate about the idea of good wrestling being in the area, but every time one of these ****ing events happens the chances of good wrestling in the area gets less likely. One venue that was contacted straight up said to a non deathmatch promoter "We don't want our venue to be associated with broken glass and blood".

Also one prominent Melbourne deathmatch wrestler bleed a gusher on a show and left blood and bloody bandages and shit in the bathroom sink of the venue after cleaning himself up and apparently that's par for the course for a lot of them.

OH SHIT!!!!

This makes me incredibly happy, Caveman Ugg is quietly having an Australian Wrestler of the Year 2024, he so deserves this opportunity!

PWA have announced their first round Colosseum matches, and Tommy vs Lena is the most exciting clash of styles I could picture in OzWres.

Hosting it in Sorell has disappointment written all over it doesn't it?

They can't be that desperate for a southern show that you'd hold it a good 30 minutes from Hobart's eastern shore?
I was surprised they decided to host it there, when there was the Aurora Sports Centre in Creek Road that was the last place they tried. Perhaps they couldn't book anywhere else? I dunno it's weird.

I'll be going and doing a review of the show, might need to review the venue too.

I guess if you're starved enough of local wrestling, and you're keen enough on it, you'll figure it out.

But if you're located somewhere in the Glenorchy/Claremont region that your local footy teams are, it's not quite next door! I have to imagine you're driving past a dozen potentially suitable venues to get there.

Usually they hold wrestling at the Hobart Town Hall, that's where WCW Australia was, and where NAW held their show sold out venue too. There's a few other places they could have as well I am sure. It was just weird to see it at Sorell of all places.

Hartley Jackson and Caveman Ugg are both on Yuji Nagata's Blue Justice show. Goddamn that's cool.

I wonder if that creates an interesting vacancy for MCW's Fite to Survive team, Ugg was surely due to be in that main event. Who is the replacement?

The last date of the tour is 14th of Oct.

Got my weekends round the wrong way. I hope Ugg was always NJPW's choice for this opportunity, and it isn't/wasn't just the result of Colosseum's timing. Tough time for Bonza to be away I guess, not that he was needed in the featured match on Saturday. On the contrary, it's nonsensical that he's in it.

Dream is back! LFG!

If they'd started super small, realising they needed to build trust along with building an audience, they possibly could've re-birthed into a promotion that ran 3-4 shows a year.

I don't know how the **** they got Werribee Indoor Sports given their reputation, but I don't know who they think is going to go. The hardcores that you were appealing to for a niche like deathmatch are the most pissed off about how everything went down previously.

In addition to that, such as DMDU has any presence left whatsoever - that presence is in Preston at the Tallboy & Moose. WTF are they running Werribee?

They run through venues burning bridges meaning they need to keep moving. Joel lives in Werribee so thats likely the reason, but venue is not super convenient.

I am certain in the venue operators knew who/what they were dealing with it would be cancelled
