Endgame was huge win, it’s been said but the production was insane. It’s hard to think that it was the same venue that GCW and WSW ran because it just looked next level.

The show is a hole I really enjoyed there isn’t too much I wouldn’t give praise to. The battle Royale was about a Royal if it was a vessel to get Ryan rapid cooking then it served its purpose. I think he’s a good guy to use in that into Commonwealth scene where he can have good matches anywhere on the card.

Dusk/Ricky was probably my match of the night, limited by what they could do with the main also using weapons, but it was great in spite of the handcuffs. Their two matches sub 10 minutes has me stoked at what these two can do with a main event match. dusk as a face has finally clicked into place, the new music and the new look really felt like a level up. The crowd were very into him, some kids by my group were scared of him when he came out and screaming for him by the end.

Jarvis/Lucky felt very rushed. I don’t know if they were rushing. They were cut short but the match just felt like it happened. I don’t wanna sound like I’m shitting on it because it was like five minutes. There’s only so much there. It just felt oddly paced and odd to watch, feel like it kind of hurt the big Jarvis moment.

Triple Threat was good fun, what you’d expect from 3 great workers. Really well structured match, never felt like it came to a halt, was just perpetual motion. I do feel like Rob is kind of just there as champion. Not in a fault to his own, just the least important piece in the faction. I really hope the long term plan is he takes over Rocky or takes Rocky out to really heat him up as a heel. I really don’t want to see a face turn, Jarvis has turned, brooks is likely turning, it would be nice to just see some alignments stick for longer than a year. One of my friend that came is a primary school teacher and he described Thorpe as the ‘PE teacher that’s too handsome to be a teacher’ and it’s all I can see.

Slex/Ugg was really good, considering Slex was in hospital what a week ago the man doesn’t look like he’s missed a step it’s insane. Good match, felt like the crowd were a bit quiet from after the sacrament until these guys started really rolling, not in a bad way I just think it’s to be expected, but these guys had them eating out of their hands by the mid way point. Great moment for that finish of Ugg getting that moment before Ricky steals it away. I’ll be honest, I think this is best case because I’m just not interested in Ugg as champion. Great chase but I just feel him as the guy is limited. This way we get that moment and then in defeating him definitively down the line, Ricky gets that shine of taking Ugg out.

I don’t know how it shakes out, but Ugg, Slex, Dusk and Ricky is a pretty fantastic top of the card to be working with in the new year.

I won’t lie, I got caught in the food truck line so didn’t see a lot of the 6 man - my friends that came with said it was fun, they’ve never been to wrestling before so I guess that’s the right reaction! Big love from the girls for Mikey Broderick.

Erika/Eugenie was probably my low point, I don’t know if it’s the story they’re going for or if it’s just chemistry I’m not ‘in the biz’ enough to know but both their matches have just felt off. I get eugenie is dominating her but it kinda comes across as ‘we’re not sure what we’re doing’ I’m not sure. I don’t wanna be that guy telling wrestlers how to do it but it’s 0/2 on these for me personally! Shout out the production on Eugenies entrance though, looked incredible!

Main - look, happy the parea won, I think they’re superstars waiting be unleashed, awesome they’re off to the states. I think brooks is the best wrestler in the country and I think Rocky plays his role to perfection and people sleep on how good he is, I think they’ve done a fantastic job to build this match considering we’ve already seen and yet this still felt so important, all that fantastic and I love but this match was too long and just didn’t feel like what it was advertised. A year long blood feud, three stages of hell, and we start with like 5 minutes of slow plodding wrestling. It just felt wrong. I feel they would’ve been better off choosing a different gimmick or soemthing but it just never felt like it got out of first gear. It was good, and the home stretch was nice but it felt like when you’d go to a wwe show and they’d do the safest, slowest easiest hardcore match because they have to do it again the next night. Maybe the crew and I were just tired and it was enough wrestling for my friends for one night but it was a bit of a fizzle.

I’m super excited for 2025, the boards shuffled, new stories ready, stories ready to escalate, I’ve already written an essay at this point but really wanted to get it all out on the morning transit back to reality.

But man, you put Jarvis in that spot after his turn earlier in the show, and you have your next huge babyface singles star. That was about the most predictable thing that was going to happen this week. I'm sure they did some promotion on Sunday, and Sunday night/Monday was probably their last chance of a bump.

Yeah, no shit mate. No one looked at Adam Brooks, Tommy Knight et al on a show at Thornbury Theatre and decided not to go based on the talent.

In fairness, this is probably more directed at the international talent, none of whom were draws in the slightest. Vale is right in saying that the Australia vs India concept just didn't resonate. And if he'd spoken to more people in wrestling before jumping in feet-first, he could've known that months ago.

I get what you're saying with this point. However the "one man clears the ring" trope is already absurd with Buddy...There is no way I could suspend my disbelief for Jarvis...

First with MCW End Game, you have to give kudos to the crowd of 1200+, the production looked great and the show did appear big time. A lot of the fans said that this is a TV ready product ready for national television, I can't agree with that mainly because of the bad booking but I'll touch on each criticism I had.

The booking is very predictable. Nick Armstrong with the classic "I'm going to get a count out victory over you" only for the lights to cut out at 7 and Matthews to come out, if you're a wrestling fan you've seen this a million times already. Matthews of course comes out and beats Armstrong in 5 minutes, Armstrong barely gets anything in and a local guy gets fed to someone who is now an international star.

Literally one match later another "oldest trick in the book" as they book a MITB cash in angle but instead of allowing Ricky South to get the heat of robbing Caveman Ugg they instead put it on Slex. Slex then celebrates the new champion and is happy about it but why would he be? Despite being in the same stable Slex still just lost the prestigious championship, he shouldn't be happy about that...unless the belt means nothing

Erika Reid Vs Eugenie with a match and finish that MCW took from a smaller interstate fed. The show ends with another lights out moment The AEW TV star that lives in America then proceeds to run through the biggest stable and stars in the company. Nobby is correct here, this spot should've gone to a younger star or a group of younger stars because obviously that's a huge moment.

I do want to specify that despite my criticisms the wrestling is good and crisp, most people looked the part, the crowd was great, the production all over was great but anyone who says this is a TV ready product or is ready to say it is one of the greatest Australian Wrestling shows ever is biased I think. I'm sure Eastman and the Aussie Wrestling websites will be ready to call it 10/10 at some point this week though simply because it is MCW.

That said I was disappointed about Ugg winning then immediately losing the title. I’ve been an Ugg fan for a long time so I hope the plan is an eventual title run for him and that this wasn’t a just for shock value “cash-in” moment.

If I never see another cash in angle again I'd be totally fine with it.

It comes down to what I brought up the other week, MCW push older guys and have been doing so for years, they aren't really interested in new or young stars. The next show in March will probably be Ricky/Ugg who have both been around forever or Slex/Ugg who also have been around forever.

On the cash in - while a fan - I am in the same park. It was a great tool in the wrestling toolbox but it needs to go away now. 5-10 years cash in free and then we can revitalise it. Just make ballroom a shot at the belt moving forward, especially if endgame is going to be like the ‘wrestlemania’ show.


Backed on the buddy front too - didn’t even mention it in my post because it was just really a LOOK BUDDY angle. My friends who came with me aren’t wrestling fans, so they didn’t understand why he was so important, so it did create a small disconnect.

You had the seeds in the show to have Dusk and Jarvis join in, even Tommy and Mitch after Rob and Lucky screwed them earlier in the night.

But it’s the old tv power scaling i suppose!

To pushing younger guys, I think it’s less about ‘young’ and just ‘fresh’. Mitch & Tommy should be in that main event scene not propping up the middle of the card.

I have to imagine Dusk is doing something with South? Unless we’re running back Ugg and South just to solidify South as the champion behind his cash in, I don’t imagine they will hot potato it back.

I’m not against Brooks, Slex and Ugg in the main events, they’re all terrific. I just want a year where the main event scene isn’t just like 2-3 guys in a perpetual rotation.

PWA's Kick Ons show was appropriately titled, the show felt a bit drunk.

- The venue looked like hot garbage compared to PWA's usual high standards for streamed Black Label shows.

- We had Unsocial Jordan randomly playing babyface play by play with Frankie B randomly doing heel commentary.

- Bonza conflating "ranger" insults with homophobia or misogyny is not good heat.

- And then Jordan started playing heel starting with the Aaron Jake match...

- Which kind of continued into the awful I quit match, which demonstrated everything wrong with PWA this year... cos they've run so few shows, they're telling big chunks of their story either at their non-streamed shows, or even worse, they're expecting us as wrestling fans to assume that some tropes have occurred. How the **** did this feud get to its culmination in an I Quit match for the Backslide Girls' contract? Either a lot happened on some "house shows"... or it didn't happen at all, and they've gone "wrestling fans have seen all the in-between stuff leading up to the match a million times before, so we won't bother doing it, we'll fast forward straight to the end."

- And then after barely saying anything, Frankie disappeared at the intermission... We had random guest commentators on the next 2 matches, and then just Gale and Jordan for the main. It was very strange.

- I don't know how Lena isn't in WWE. She's big, she's gorgeous, she's so damn good. Somehow she's still underrated in this tiny OzWrestling scene. Commentary pointing out the NJPW vs Sendai aspect to it is very cool, it highlights that you get some cool and unique things that can't happen anywhere else in PWA.

What a disservice we've suffered in Melbourne with promoters' failure to bring her in. I feel like I might need to go to a WSW show just to see her live. (This time a week ago I was thinking that OPW would cut their ticket prices, and that next week I'd be able to get a cheap ticket to walk down the road for Erika vs Lena. )

- Hard to imagine a main event of an end of year show having less heat to it. It's another story half-told from Colosseum and (as fair as know) one social media video.

They're obviously investing a lot in Jimmy, but sometimes I wonder whether Mick's look reflects his current investment in wrestling/his storylines. You go back to Micky 5 belts of 2022, his hair/beard was on point, his gear looked great, and he was shredded AF - it was a presentation that made him look like a star. He's still shredded, but not to the same extent, and the clean-shaven, cheap shitty ripped jeans, bare foot look is not a star look, it just looks really cheap and indy.

It was a fun, easy show to watch on a quiet Saturday night, there was nothing really bad on it. But I watch some of these shows that feel pretty insignificant and think "what must the non-streamed shows be like?!"

Not a lot of the storylines make sense and they just aren't interesting, this is a problem that has plagued PWA since they started though, they've never really booked consistently hot angles instead focusing more on heatless bangers.

Backslide Girls Vs David Streamer is legit an I Quit match because at Colosseum we saw Streamer not like the big elaborate entrance of the Backslide Girls. That's it, nothing happened, there was no big fall out or fight or verbal, just didn't like the elaborate entrance so we'll have an I Quit match, laughable booking. Moretti Vs Townsend had next to no build and has been hotshotted already also, if PWA thinks that Jimmy Townsend is the next big star for them they are sorely mistaken, one of the most overrated NSW wrestlers in my opinion.

Also, this isn't so much storyline related but when is the superwoman booking of Jessica Troy going to stop? It is truly embarrassing at this point. Tonight she runs off the North Shore Wrestling stable by herself armed with a chair despite being 5'4 - 5'5 and maybe 60 kilograms, North Shore DESPERATELY needs to get something going for themselves after Jess Troy destroyed them all the first time so what does the mastermind booker do? Jess Troy runs them off with a chair and they run away from her like she's prime John Cena. Don't they understand that if North Shore is constantly made to look bad less people will want to buy tickets for the eventual Charli Vs Jess match? Why are they so afraid to make Jess look vulnerable?

But the name on the tin says PWA so this site will be the only to call out the massive holes in the booking...

That was the thing I forgot to mention...

They're running so few shows throughout the year... and they can't come up with a contender for the heavyweight championship?

And the reality continues to be that we've seen this before - a million times before in wrestling, but we've seen this before in PWA with Jess & Chevs. I'm watching a repeat.

I didn't want to see angry Jess again, going straight to swinging chairs. Give me something different. Give me something nuanced. Give me a Jess who is so hurt by the repeated betrayal that she spirals into a hole. Or give me a Jess who recognises that Chevs keeps doing this, and Jess is now done with this shit, assembling an army not to just defend the belt, but to end Chevs and North Shore Wrestling. Give me an unhinged Jess who proper murders Osborne and Kiedis in the most dastardly, torturous, unhinged way imaginable within the confines of wrestling on her way to the Chevs match.

So many things they could do, and they just do what they did before.

I love Jess. I've been really supportive of her title reign. I don't think I'll ever get over her sudden disappearance from MCW.

But I think part of the reason I've been so supportive, and been so happy to see it continue, is that I really thought we'd have Madison coming out of retirement for one more match by now. I realised last night how sad I am that it hasn't happened, cos I'd convinced myself that it was leading to that after being at Colosseum the night she won the belt.

The stuff I liked on this show I really liked.

Lena vs Robbie was by far the match of the night and probably one of the best PWA matches this year. It had a simple storyline stemming from the All Stars vs Contenders tag match at Colosseum, Robbie cut and excellent promo to sell it and Lena felt like a genuine threat. Robbie is such a presence on these shows that by default, any show he defends the Soul title is the most important match on the show based on his standing and even in defeat, lena's standing in the company took a massive jump forward by being booked as an equal and her performance. I'm still assuming the payoff to Robbie being a dickhead will be him losing the title to Tuckman but there's more value in Robbie vs Lena again.

Aaron Jake vs Ben Braxton was really good from a wrestling standpoint, but the whole thing with Jake and Bel Pierce was really left field. Braxton should be the PWA champion some time in 2025 because he's one of the very few people that the crowd 100% buys into as the guy.

Moretti vs Townsend was a very good match, by far Jimmy's best so far. But the reaction didn't seem there, as hard as they're trying to make him the guy going forward, I don't know if the connection is there. The video promo he did with Mick in the lead up to this was excellent, so hopefully there's that sort of growth.

Rest of the show was fine for the most part, Bonza linking red hair to homophobia and misogyny was pretty on the nose but then self awareness has never been his strong point. That I Quit match felt like it went on forever and ever.

Typical PWA, great in ring wrestling but largely doesn't make you invest in anything going on to the next show.

Jess Troy is a great wrestler but everything else just lacks, partially her fault but also the fault of bad boring booking. Investment for next show? What do you mean? They will have more multi person matches in January and the show will be hosted by a random drag queen with no major audience and no actual reason because that makes heaps of sense...

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said.
I have been to a handful of pwa shows and they just always seem over booked and nothing ever makes sense. If you were a random going to your first wrestling show you would definitely enjoy it but it’s rather hard wanting to keep up with everything when the booking is quite lacklustre.

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said.
I have been to a handful of pwa shows and they just always seem over booked and nothing ever makes sense. If you were a random going to your first wrestling show you would definitely enjoy it but it’s rather hard wanting to keep up with everything when the booking is quite lacklustre.
It’s never a bad show when you attend pwa, it is just rather underwhelming a lot of the time.

On top of this, the upcoming Mountiesmania show looks quite uninteresting apart from maybe 1 or 2 matches. Will be avoiding it knowing it will be a long show with no point just by looking at the thrown together card.

HOLY ****ING BROOKSY SHOUT OUT FROM OSPREAY ON AEW TV 4 WEEKS BEFORE BRISBANE!!!

Friggen Australian wrestling man. I love it, but Jesus Christ I hate it.

Let's just say that it's not very Professional to be a Championship level creeper, in Wrestling or in any walk of life. Especially when you've (allegedly) tried Pullen people while portraying a family man image online. (Note the descriptor there.)

I'd always been led to believe that this is one of the good ones that projected a family-friendly atmosphere. Looking at their socials they ran a show last night, and the company still hasn't addressed it.

To speak generally things will never change in this department until fans hold promotions accountable and stop supporting them.

I won't name names but a major Victorian promotion was informed about a very notable women's wrestlers rape by a fellow wrestler, said women's wrestler asked to not be around this person which is a suitable request, right? Allegedly not. The promotion in question told her nothing could be done as the wrestler that r*ped her was the champion and eventually stopped booking her. This is a promotion that many people to this very day point as "The good guys" in Australian Wrestling and put on a gigantic pedestal.

Another bigger Victorian promotion regularly uses someone who is known to have at the very least attempted to groom underage fans and openly had a video online for years which featured him making paedophilia jokes which has since been deleted. One of the members of management of this promotion was the one that uploaded the "jokes" and left them uploaded for years. This wrestler makes the rounds at several Victorian promotions and is supported whilst the promotion in question is also supported and highly praised.

A major NSW promotion has a promoter that has been accused of sexual harassment, hazing trainees, inappropriate advances to trainees, high range drink driving (Charged) and other morally incorrect things. Despite this the promotion still draws and ironically enough often features those who judge others in attendance or backstage.

I could go on but at the end of the day for the most part no promotion is "one of the good ones" and they have no reason to be because people will support them no matter what which sucks but it is what it is.

Topics to include the formative years as a moderator on WWFDU/WNA, buying that old ring from WCW, and partnering with Tattersalls venues to promote local wrestling (but never actually staging any shows).

I don't understand your insistence on whataboutism. What's your point? Are you trying to claim that this guys allegations - which I haven't listed, because they are the most heinous accusations that can be levelled at someone (and I'm not sure whether the details are public yet) - are lesser because of some bullshit that some idiot wrestler said a decade ago?

That's absolutely ridiculous. So again - what's your ****ing point, because you repeat this same bullshit every time, it's reductive and meaningless.

MCW have changed ownership since the example you're talking about, so it's not a stick they deserve to be beaten with. DJ never appeared on a show under new ownership.

And I don't know how old you are, but you're being naive. I'm at an age where I saw this enormous, massive societal change in how we treat and talk about genders and minorities first hand. Gino is a few years older than me again. Doesn't excuse stupidity - but that's all these allegations are, is stupidity (plus, I suppose, the previous bizarre allegation that I think you made that his fully grown adult girlfriend is younger than you think she should be.)

Bonza went through the court system and was sentenced, I don't know why you think some carny local wrestling scene is supposed to be inflicting a greater punishment on him than the ****ing law.

I have memories of some of the best people I know saying some of the most heinous shit going back 15, 20, 25 years. Stuff that became really personal to me as I grew older and came to understand my own sexuality. I don't hold it against them though, because as we all grew older, more educated, and more progressive - and as societal norms changed - they (we! I'm not absolving myself) were all incredibly apologetic and made efforts to change.

You're going to grow old very lonely and miserable if you plan to hold people's stupidity against them forever, if you believe in ongoing, indefinite punishment, and if you're going to forever hold grudges that aren't yours to hold.

You can't change the past man, the most you can hope from people is for a genuine effort to understand, to empathise and to change. I agree that some things are unforgivable, but trying to involve stuff that is almost trivial in comparison doesn't benefit you, nor does it benefit whatever argument you're trying to make.
