maybe Clarko wants the team to figure a few things out themselves on the field

They would have learned a heap from that game
There is no doubt. They are working it out for themselves.. I think its working too but im more talking about decision making.

You hear a lot that in Clarksons years as a successful coach he was challenged on decisions in the box

Kind of similar to Rocket Eade being told to STFU by Leon Cameron “Rocket Rocket we cant ****ing hear mate” “Wiiiilllllll” “ya big ****ing spas.. get him off” rocket rocket!!!

yep , but you'd think all Senior coaches would get challenged by their assistants at some stage

you'd hope so anyway

Gutted for the boys to lose like that. Did so much right but couldn't sustain it.
Fitness and fatigue was a big issue, especially after a WA trip, but also the miles that need to be put into these kids legs over the next few years will allow us to maintain the rage.

They'll get so much learning from this game, so many good and bad things in the last quarter and final minutes.
Felt like some of it was just fluky luck bounce of the ball type plays that just went the Pies way in the last.

Clarko's decision was probably wrong or perhaps the wrong time for it, I'd have waited till 10 mins into the last to see if Will is actually cooked but perhaps the fitness staff thought he was in the red zone (at injury risk).
Anyway good signs that we hit back twice with the Teakle goal and two snaps on goal at the end. Gave ourselves a chance and were willing to take on some aggressive risk (Dawson kick to LDU) to win the game and risk losing by more.

Umpiring was poor, some were there like a few dumb McDonald and Corr frees for holds but some other one's were a little softish and plenty missed as dicussed by others. AFL needs their cash cow in the finals.

Not sure they can sustain that level of effort, there is bound to be some fluctuation or fatigue that sets in at some point so I'd probably expect we might have a shocker one of these weeks. Perhaps a few fresh faces coming in like Logue, Hardemann, McKercher and Duursma in the next few weeks might offset this fatigue.

They are a great team with a very even spread, some wonderful leaders with Daicos and Moore leading the way. They are very experienced and really, they have been relying on their experience for a couple of years now. Their experience has up until recently been kissed on the proverbial in regards to injuries.

They are now being found out a little.
Yeah it’s funny how the commentators have focused on how many young Collingwood players there were and how many injured players were out! How about stacking up the win loss ratio over the past 3 seasons and compare pies efforts on that basis They should have won and won by 10 goals

I think this will help a lot. We have a lot of young players doing a mountain of work, if we can rotate a few more talented players through and just spread the load a bit it will make a big difference. Logue coming in should let Comben / Corr have a field day.

Clarkson is a stubborn campaigner. Would take someone special to challenge him to change his mind. I think its one thing we are lacking in the box
1. wiphi was named in the VFL game.
2. clarko admitted during a press conference that we know Jy was out from the day before

Which means the tag was a planned surprise announced last second. It was a fantastic play.

Daicos started to get ontop so wiphi was then subbed off. I don't think it was a tough decision.

Also not sure why ppl are blaming the coach. I'm sure it was his idea to put him on, as it was his to take him off.

Might get more likes if you tell us who’s not playing from yesterday’s team
It's always 'next year'. Every year around this time (or earlier) it's time to start thinking about how our list will look next year. Ins and outs and everything else. I actually want to enjoy this year for once

What happened with the Maynard sling tackle that slammed Powell across the boundary line? Nothing to see hear? That thug really is the darling of the AFL industry. The only difference between his tackle and Harley Reid’s was that Tommy got right up. Both were dangerous tackles.

I don't agree with the conclusion. Scott did not play on. Many players will take a few steps after running for a mark to rebalance. Scott stopped and signalled his intention to take the kick.

It is normal for an umpire to blow the whistle when a mark is taken. If that didn't happen then piss him off. In any case, we've seen 50s paid for almost nothing and yet two blokes ran multiple steps over the mark while the umpires stood around like stale bottles of piss not blowing their whistles, not calling "stand", basically doing SFA.

I now believe that Laura Kane has failed to respond adequately to the non-50 and she's apparently ignored all of the other errors made by the umpires on the day (not just those in the last two minutes).

Not good enough.

Trust is gone in my opinion.

Im not. I dont think it was the worst decision. Its all hindsight, if Sleevo kicked that goal then no one would be talking about it would they? But the question begs, was phillips the right one to drag?
