It's a weird one as we traded up for a mid last year and will look at mids again this year if we can get a first round pick.think this is the last post to do with this thread before all the dumbasses took over. you have to wonder how much of the knee affected his pace and turn of direction.
starting to think he isnt really that high of a priotiy at the dogs with darcy and bont renewals coming.
If there's one thing we need it's a quick ball winnerIt's a weird one as we traded up for a mid last year and will look at mids again this year if we can get a first round pick.
Personally I think Richards going into the middle is great and we should look at a smaller rebound defender as well.
Baz use a really effective high half forward too but by all accounts wants CBA time and I imagine Geelong can offer more of that than we can.
I am really curious about this- where are the doggies in the "premiership window" metaphor?Yeah but we need a premiership NOW.
Yeah its notLooks like Geelong are the only ones into Smith now. Any talk of Hawks is all media speculation.

Arguably the hardest position for recruitment is well stocked for the future, but midfield is starting to age a bit.
I wonder if the Doggies would be better suited to going hard for a draft or two in the midfield so that when JUH and Darcy are in their prime they've got an exciting, fully strength'd midfield smashing it in to them.
It's fine, you have a Ryan Gardner shaped paddleIf Jones gets injured next year, we are up shit creek!
He’s an obsessive trainer. Not always focussing on exactly what he should but application has never been a knock on him.Not that I stalk his insta or anything but....
... ok I do, but anyway, he's been training the whole time he's been in Greece. Obviously there's a selection bias to him showing "good" training videos but he was doing change in direction drills which would have tested the knee a bit but he was fine.
He's definitely fit and the knee is showing good signs.
He has hands as firm as paddles. It's fine, you have a Ryan Gardner shaped paddle
You want to go back and check the number isn't 11 there mate?
4 of the 5 that we'll lose for next year are no great loss. Then we'll have 6. Sydney has 7 this year. Whatever cliff there is already hit.that's hardly an improvement...

Ummm, hawkin, dangerfield, duncan, zouhy, rohan were the key player that got the 2022 flag.
A few draft and free agents here and there won't cut it but require mass turnover.
Cliff already hit, mate, you haven't seen nothing yet.
Tend to agree. Think we are a real bottom 3 chance next season.
Off topic to thread but I just think the kids need leadership. Drafting at this point is pointless as it's all we've done really for the last 3 years.Ummm, hawkin, dangerfield, duncan, zouhy, rohan were the key player that got the 2022 flag.

Comparing Geelong getting Smith to Hawthorn getting O'Meara and Mitchell or Richmond getting Hopper and Taranto.
Top 25 picks in the previous 5 drafts still on the list:
Geelong (2019-2023): 8 (SDK, Holmes, Bruhn, O Henry, Conway, Knevitt, Clark, O'Sullivan)
Hawthorn (2011-2015): 3 (Hartung, Burton, Lovell)
Richmond (2017-2021): 4 (Balta, Dow, Gibcus, Brown)
The ACL worries me and I'm not sure if he's the right target. But giving up a single first rounder for a 23 year old gun after Geelong's heavy recent investment in the draft makes sense.
It's trying to accelerate the development of our group 25 and under. It's not a hail Mary to try to go again with an old group after you've ignored the draft for many years.
If that's the case then that's not the worst thing.
Geelong could do a quick rebuild by shipping out a few players for top picks.
But unfortunately you guys have a coach by the name of scott who said 'bottoming, nah, no gonna happen...'
It's going to topping up with free agents like smith to maintain geelong in the top 8 or just outside of it.
Respectfully, if you’re going to include top 25 picks from the prior 5 drafts that the Cats traded in, unsure why you wouldn’t include top 25 picks we traded in for Wingard, Impey and Mitchell
Can’t wait to see the back of him. Players like him who think they can dictate what position they play and then have a sook and skip games when it suits them are not worth it. Beware hawks and cats more trouble than he’s worth.
Also Mitchell isn't anymore and wingard is a soft tissue from retirementI was comparing Geelong in 2024 (before we might be getting Smith) to Hawthorn in 2016 (before they got Mitchell and O'Meara) and Richmond in 2022 (before they got Hopper and Taranto).
None of Wingard, Mitchell or Impey were on your list in 2016.
