Wouldn’t mind Kevitt being involved. A young kid with some promise to look at the next lot after a 33 yr old Libba and 31 year old Trelaor and 30 year old Macrae are close to the end.
I'm not sure he'd break into your 22 anytime soon. He'd probably see himself as better odds of cracking a regular spot at the cats

Yep we gave what we had in terms of our first round pick.
Which turned out to be pick 21.
Whether it’s 16, 17 or 18 it’s what it is.
Ya can’t give what u haven’t got.
Do I think he is worth more than Tanner? Yeah probably.
But 2 first round picks?
Yeah Nah. Not even if they are picks in the late teens.
Interesting to see this play out.
FWIW I reckon a deal has already been done and agreed to.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 firsts is already the agreed deal.

I see on the Dogs board that they are suggesting PSD.

So to go full circle may I suggest Bailey refuses to do medicals with anyone other than Geelong.

Would you pick him up on $800k per year for 5 years or whatever without having done a medical on a guy that has done their ACL?
Already done a medical at the Suns so too late for that.

If Geelong make the grand final I don't think they'd have much choice but to offer two first rounders. I doubt they'd really have an issue with it either.

Yes, the opportunity to be on the wrong side of a trade period's Lachie Schultz deal in a given year only comes around once every so often and we'd be bonkers to not be involved.

So Geelongs 2 firsts for Smith and the Dogs 2 seconds then?
Got em again!

(Tiges supporters tried to ask for the Cameron deal for Bolton. Of course we'd say yes to that!)

You aren't trading for Lachie Schultz though, let's not use him as the rule when clearly he is the exception.

This is another fun one.

Was an expected late first 15-18 and a late second rounder.

Always the gamble with futures. (Jackson for us. ouch)

It would be trading out of this year's and next year's first round, with an old list and a sharp drop down the ladder in 2025 being a distinct possibility. It would be a pretty clear push to squeeze one last premiership run out of the Dangerfield, Blicavs, Guthrie, Duncan, Stewart group at the expense of the back half of this decade. And I don't think we're going to be close next year, with or without Bailey Smith. I don't think we'll make the eight. Then we don't have a first rounder, we have another handful of retirements and we'll barely have a recognised player under 21 on the list.

You hope and expect that the people who are paid to make these decisions at Geelong are far more aware than nuffies like me of how the list is poised for next year, three years, five years from now. But that's how it's looking to me. If we trade a future first along with this year's first and probably a second rounder, I think we're going to regret doing it down the track.

I think this ends up required both first rounders even if something is returned the other way. Cats going deep just makes this years pick not worth it unless they work on trading it up to a better position themselves

I wonder if Geelong would trade their future first and current first for one of Fremantle's top picks.
thre's nothing at all stopping Geelong trying to improve the pick, and more than likely things they are looking at for all the chest beating that goes on in these threads.

Richmond are another who might be willing to push a pick to next year after the haul they're likely to end up with

The trade was 13, 15, 20, F4 for Cameron F2 Cats, F2 Essendon.

It's essentially 13 & 15 for cameron then splitting a late first and a 4th round for 2 2nd rounders.

In that scenario the trade with current picks would be like 16, F1, 36, F4 for 44 & F3 from the dogs.

I actually don't mind that.

But…. Bailey isn’t Jezza.
