Classic case of making a statement, being proven wrong by stats then ignoring stats that don't support the view.
Sorry to disappoint you , but your stats were irrelevant and only a fool wold believe you. So you've bAsed your stats on 3 JLT games where opposition teams as well as us Weren't going full strength or full pelt . Which you have been caught saying in the autopsy thread and now you want to contradict your argument with our great defensive stats ( in your eyes) . Also you brought up 2015 and conveniently ignored 2016 after DH game plan was totally dismantled by opposition coaches.
Your trolling combined with football ignorance is becoming tiresome .

Carlton v RICHMOND, MCG, Thursday, March 23, 7:20pm AEDT

B: Dylan Grimes, David Astbury, Reece Conca
HB: Bachar Houli, Alex Rance, Brandon Ellis
C: Shane Edwards, Dustin Martin, Shaun Grigg
HF: Josh Caddy, Ben Griffiths, Nick Vlastuin
F: Daniel Rioli, Jack Riewoldt, Sam Lloyd
Foll: Toby Nankervis, Trent Cotchin, Dion Prestia
I/C: Anthony Miles, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jason Castagna, Dan Butler

New faces: Dan Butler, Josh Caddy, Toby Nankervis, Dion Prestia

Missing with injury/suspension: Shaun Hampson (back, indefinite); Steve Morris (knee, 1-2 weeks); Jack Graham (hamstring, 1-2 weeks)

Notes: Brandon Ellis has been backed to move into defence and will likely get first crack as a rebounder in round one. His form needs to improve, however, with Kamdyn McIntosh (named on the bench) and Oleg Markov other options here. Reece Conca has also returned as a small defender, forcing Jayden Short out of the team. Speed and defensive pressure should ensure Jason Castagna and Dan Butler get their chance in a smaller forward line. Nick Vlastuin is also selected as a midfielder/forward having trained and played there all pre-season. Connor Menadue, Corey Ellis and Markov are part of the future, but a lack of minutes and influence in the JLT Community Series means they're likely to be overlooked against the Blues. Mabior Chol is waiting in the wings if Ben Griffiths doesn't hit form soon, or the Tigers decide they need more forward line height and ruck support. - Nathan Schmook

HE'S pretty much on the mark but I'd anticipate one of Castagna or Butler disappearing for Taylor Hunt, who will play.

Shuffle Edwards to HFF, Ellis to Wing and Vlaustin to HBF - then swap Lennon for Butler and I'd run with that. Not sure whose chips Shorty stole, but one of the coaches has talk the others out of him.

I was surprised at how on the money he will probably be. Most of the time they throw out a player like O'Hanlon to play when they aren't even on the list.

Probably the best most likely side so far. No matter what people want, BEllis to the wing, Short BP etc, it ain't going to happen. You can't really play players that aren't a part of the pre-season sides. Conca will play back because his form is getting better. Houli is established, BEllis is the experimental HB. MacIntosh may start on wing and Grigg bench revolving through midfield etc.
This is a fairly experienced side, with Castagna earning his place. One change might be Hunt for Butler maybe.
Whilst disappointed not to see CEllis, Marko, Menadue, Lennon, Short etc pushing for selection, I think they need real form in the 2nd's and come in confident. How much experimental selection do you take into Rd.1.
Another change might be, Chol may come in for Griffiths. Griffiths has been poor, Chol was good, but then Nankervis has to do a power of ruck work.

An accurate effort for once from a journo.

I think Butler, Rioli and Castagna might make us too small up forward with Griff chopping out in the ruck, but I like the pace component.
Floss didnt show alot through the middle, but I liked him forward...has footy smarts.
Bellis and Conce got better as the jlt went on and Bellis will be better suited to the bigger grounds, as will Houli.
Miles, Dusty, Grigg, Caddy, Vlas make us slow defensively through the middle, which is a worry if our effort isnt 100% as shown vs Coll.

We need the 2's to put lots of pressure on spots to keep anyone from the lower tier becoming too comfortable.

Although he probably won't get a gig round one, I don't think it's fair to completely rule out Chol.

Wouldn't mind this line up, believe it has a mix of pace and skill. However, they either need to be phased out of the side (i.e.. Griggs replacement) or be pushed for their position from the VFL side, specifically by the players listed below:
Costanga, B. Ellis, Menadue, Short, Bolton, Graham, Garthwaite, Drummond

Have clearance machines in the middle. Not sold on any of our KPF so I've gone with one of the most dangerous players that can work FF in Martin. Chol showed more than Griffiths for me in the JLT game but one of the two as ruck relief. No games gifted although a few might be in the original line up even with their poor JLT form. Players pushing for spots have a lot more upside than some in the original team but might not be as competitive at this stage.

No time for the others on the list (not including rookies that aren't listed here) such as Hunt, Houli etc. who have no upside.

Well this is how I hope we line up on Thursday night.

I kept it simple. A nice mixture of air support and rebound in the D50. Having Grimes & McIntosh capable of playing tall/small gives us plenty of flexibility which is crucial for team defense these days. Unsure if we will continue to play an extra defender with all the coaching changes but if we do I'd say that will be Brandon's role. Happy for him to be an extra to use his run but hate watching him trying to defend one on one. He is a capable chop out mark at times so if he is down there he will need to bring that.

I have started our big 3 in the middle. Dusty, Cotch, Pretia... Get them in the guts from the start. Need to have our best players touching the ball early and providing the ascendancy in the middle from the start. Nank is the obvious choice for the ruck, has been impressive through the JLT series but the real stuff starts now. Be great to see him go up against another 'follow up' ruckman in Kruezer. I have opted for endurance in Grigg/Ellis on the wings. The knack of simply finding the pill is under-rated IMO and thats what those two do. It's easy to be seduced by the speed of Menedue/Drummond and other speedy types but until they can show they can find space to use their pace then they will find it hard to break into the side.

The three talls up forward theory can go get f'd... We dont have two good talls let alone three so lets play to the strengths of the list we have and create goals from F50 pressure. Although Titch, Lloyd and Caddy (plus other resting Mids Dusty/Cotch) are short they are all capable in the air and when isolated 1v1. As good as Titch can be in the clearances at times I prefer him getting it forward of centre where he has greater impact with his releasing handballs leading to overlap goals and easy scoring opportunities.

I have opted for midfield depth on the bench with Miles and Vlastuin to give our starters a chop out and chance to rest forward. Daniel Butler has been the highlight of the JLT for mine and in conjunction with Rioli I hope they both terrorize Docherty and Simpson off half back. If they can do that then I cant see Carltank moving the ball efficiently from D50. C.Ellis gets the last spot for some flexibility at HBF & Wing. He is all class, the more games we can get into him the better.
