I think Miles plays. He wins too much of the ball for him not to. Not sure if Lennon will.

Well this is how I hope we line up on Thursday night.

I kept it simple. A nice mixture of air support and rebound in the D50. Having Grimes & McIntosh capable of playing tall/small gives us plenty of flexibility which is crucial for team defense these days. Unsure if we will continue to play an extra defender with all the coaching changes but if we do I'd say that will be Brandon's role. Happy for him to be an extra to use his run but hate watching him trying to defend one on one. He is a capable chop out mark at times so if he is down there he will need to bring that.

I have started our big 3 in the middle. Dusty, Cotch, Pretia... Get them in the guts from the start. Need to have our best players touching the ball early and providing the ascendancy in the middle from the start. Nank is the obvious choice for the ruck, has been impressive through the JLT series but the real stuff starts now. Be great to see him go up against another 'follow up' ruckman in Kruezer. I have opted for endurance in Grigg/Ellis on the wings. The knack of simply finding the pill is under-rated IMO and thats what those two do. It's easy to be seduced by the speed of Menedue/Drummond and other speedy types but until they can show they can find space to use their pace then they will find it hard to break into the side.

The three talls up forward theory can go get f'd... We dont have two good talls let alone three so lets play to the strengths of the list we have and create goals from F50 pressure. Although Titch, Lloyd and Caddy (plus other resting Mids Dusty/Cotch) are short they are all capable in the air and when isolated 1v1. As good as Titch can be in the clearances at times I prefer him getting it forward of centre where he has greater impact with his releasing handballs leading to overlap goals and easy scoring opportunities.

I have opted for midfield depth on the bench with Miles and Vlastuin to give our starters a chop out and chance to rest forward. Daniel Butler has been the highlight of the JLT for mine and in conjunction with Rioli I hope they both terrorize Docherty and Simpson off half back. If they can do that then I cant see Carltank moving the ball efficiently from D50. C.Ellis gets the last spot for some flexibility at HBF & Wing. He is all class, the more games we can get into him the better.

This I believe will be the exact line up we will go with. Only change I think could potentially be C.Ellis for Markov

Feel like I'm missing someone but that will do.
Also given he didn't play in any of the JLT games I'm not sure Short will play R1 but I much prefer him in the team over Hunt.

Shoot me know please, Butler & Castagna 'MUST' be rewarded for their efforts otherwise why bother

With the inclusion of Caddy & Prestia, 70% of other players have been pushed down the pecking order.

Butler had a good JLT1, quiet JLT2, quiet JLT3

Castagna had a quiet but good JLT1, quiet JLT2, quiet JLT3. He would be close to round 1.

I think Short, Butler, Castagna, CEllis, Menadue, should get game time this year when Conca, Hunt, BEllis, Lambert have a poor run.
And I hope we are quicker to reward sustained good performance in the 2's than in past years.

But overall I think those Conca, Hunt, BEllis players had a better JLT series to get / keep there spots for round 1.
Lambert had 33% game time in one game and still got 7 possessions. Guess we will see if he is on the outer or not.
And if he is, I expect he will force his way back in as per Butler, Castagna, etc.

Overall we have more players now than in the past, that are close, if not in the 1's. A good problem to have. Except for key talls.

My opinion is my opinion. I don't take pot shots at other posters for having a different opinion to mine.

I know B.Ellis frustrates the Tiger faithful, but is there any indication that he is in the same fringe category as Lambert, Conca, and Hunt etc., or is it purely supporter wishful thinking?
No he will still play

Here is an interesting chart.

It shows the averages per JLT game if each player played the same minutes.

Interesting but ultimately a bit useless. Unless we think Soldo will actually get 25 possies and kick 3 goals 5 a match :p In which case, get him in there! Ultimately some players are probably more capable of playing more or less minutes than others. Does reinforce the popular sentiment that Griff and Lennon were disappointing though. It doesn't show effort, pressure acts etc which would help Lennon a bit but not much. Also doesn't ably demonstrate just how crap Hunt was.
