Big Footy Grand Final celebrations plans - join the victory march!!

If the unthinkable happens and you don't get tickets to the GF (if we make it) what is everyone planning to do?

Is the club running any kind of event at Westpac Centre or Vic Park?

I'm flying down on the Friday from Brisbane, and while I'm about 80% sure I'll pick up a ticket through work contacts, if I don't I'll need a backup plan.

Can't see anything on the club website.

I'll be flying in from Canberra on the Friday (if we get there) and looking for a place to party and enjoy the build up with like minded Woodsmen.

If the boys get up will the club be commandeering Vic Park for an all-night and every-day-athon?

If the boys get up will the club be commandeering Vic Park for an all-night and every-day-athon?

You are allowed to drink at Victoria Park between 9am and 9pm every day of the week.

If we win the GF I am sure there will be plenty of supporters showing up.

I assume, and it may by wrong, that after a win the players would congregate at Vic Park for celebrations etc?

I'm sure the club would hold something at Westpac Centre but it will be for members only and you will most likely have to book your spot as they have a limit they can hold... (I'm sure this happened one year we were in a prelim). They posted out wrist bands if i remember correctly.

No doubt if we make the GF there will be a set up at Vic Park as well, pretty sure they will cater for all of their members who are unable to get GF tickets... Similar set up to what Geelong have had at Skilled Stadium over the last few GF's...

If i dont get tickets ill watch the game at home and then be out in the city all night (there is a provisional plan to sleep at vic park grand final night if we win).

I have heard unconfirmed reports from a few people involved with the "Save Vic Park" campaign that for the past 2 prelims, we had Vic Park booked for the Saturday and Sunday of the following week, just in case we made it.

Now that the ground has been "done up" a little bit, I'm sure there will be something official at the ground, both during the game and after the game, and obviously the day after where we have the family celebration or mourning.

The AFL will want us to hold our celebrations at Fed Square, but we all know that simply isn't big enough for us.

So Vic Park it is, if we beat Geelong, one way or another most of us will visit our spiritual home on the Saturday or Sunday of GF weekend.

i'm pretty certain the plan is to hold training the friday of grand final week at vic park if we make it.

If i dont get tickets ill watch the game at home and then be out in the city all night (there is a provisional plan to sleep at vic park grand final night if we win).

I was just thinking the same thing.
I assume this is acceptable?
I can hardly see the point in booking a room for two nights without sleep when the hard earned will be better spent on consumables and the ever possible "bail".

I was thinking arrive early Friday, attend training, hover mysteriously until a meet-up for all night drinks, get to the Granny and either make my way to Vic Park for the all night celebs and inevitable nude "don't Fear the Reaper-Bound for Glory" all night medly with air guitar or, in the event of the unthinkable, sleep in a culvert and then fly home saddened but un-bowed.

I rang the club.

They have nothing finalised as yet, but they are planning some events and details will be communicated to members in the coming weeks.

Wouldn't give me any more detail than that.

Hopefully I have tickets and it doesn't matter, but I need a backup plan considering I am flying down solo!

Whether the club does something official .... and you think they would arrange something ... the place will be packed. It's our birthday place after all.

No I'll be going solo as the family will be "wintering" down the coast for the school holidays, where I'll be joining them post celebrations (God willing) to enjoy endless re-enactments of the great deeds of our boys by firelight in the evenings...just like in the good ol' days.

Hey everyone!

I dont mean for this post to become an advertisment or anything but my Band is playing a gig on Grand Final Eve if anyone is looking for a good night out before the GF.

We are an original "Heavy Rock" band I guess, and we are good...haha..and about to release our debut Album.

Playing at Revellers Bar, 50 Johnston St Fitzroy. Onstage at 8.45pm. If the Pies are in the Grand Final I will be wearing either my Collingwood Jumper or my scarf onstage. Im the Singer.
