The Individuals got off to a good start with a 4pt win also against Spurs (2).
Not bad for a first up game.

ahh so that was you guys who had to use our soggy bibs!

mine was the dry one, i promise.

we got beat, fell apart in the second half, they hit us with a burst just after the break and by the time we regathered ourselves the damage had been done.

But on the positive side first gamer jane scored the bigfooty bulldogs first ever goal by a female, and from pretty much as far out as your allowed to kick it to i might add.

On the injury side i've come away with either a badly bruised or broken toe courtesy of a front on collision and footy boot stud kick to the affected region. I played out the match after a brief girly cry on the boundary line, so i'd say it's probably not broken.

The highlight of the night was most definately the end of the match. Not because we lost but because we all laughed at the fox that stole the ball from the other game.

I can't believe I missed the fox! Who explained what happened to the umpire? I was down the other end of the ground and missed it all.

Yes a disapointing loss, but we are chance this coming Monday, as we play under the better lit, Rugby Union field. Its another 7:15PM game against one of the all-girls sides - Spurs (2).

We will be relying on physical size, as their fitness looked pretty good from what I saw yesterday.

Positives from last nights game:

1. 9 point supergoal.
2. Run from defence, esp when Mike was shifted out of the centre.
4. Good accuracy in front of goals.
3. We finished the game just before the clouds opened up... and it really ********ed down!

Given my inability to shut down their key forwards in the second half, i vote not going in the backs again. Once he was, oh i don't know, half a step in front of me, he was gone and i was done!

zone defence needs work i guess.

Well, sides like that are going to give us trouble unfortunately. Whilst we held up the dyke well enough in the first half, they simply had too much clean footy after half time and even I could hit a target (some of the time) when 30 metres in the clear. Since I have retired from footy I dont chase anymore, and if zone defence involves standing in a spot in the defensive third of the field and watching your opponent run around, then I, for one, have it mastered.

As for run out of defence, I mentioned to Marcus that I was Jade Rawlings like - running sideways from the contest to receive the cheap outlet possession and trying to look good running down the wing...

My favorite passage of play was the mark I took, followed by literally dropping the ball on the deck after playing on, stopping, picking it up and going back behind the mark to take the kick - and the umpire letting me. It was a golden moment.

But, I must say it was nice to have 3 girls in the team for a change.

My indoor soccer finishes this week as we are likely to lose the semi final.
If you need a skilless, dour and dirty defender, I'm your man.

At the very least I try to come down and watch; and nothing to do with fact you are playing an all girls team :)

hey we are in the 4!

hard to read into those results eh.
we beat the western bulldogs (looks good eh!)
they beat the b team, we lost to the tanks who lost to the b team.

If you read into it you could say we either played out of our skins the first game, or really poorly the second game.

probably the later.

good news is i'm almost back and running again, toe is still black and bruised and doesn't like to be bent much but i'm confident of pulling up for the game on monday. I've booked in a session in the hyperbaric chamber as well just to be sure.

We won with a come from behind victory!

A great second half, which incidently all started when i got switched into the back line and set up serveral key moments from full back :)

A good win against an undermanned Leaseplan, finally got ourselves a 9-pointer, and all the girls had plenty of it which was good. The Bigfooty Bulldogs umpiriing panel did well, Dave did a good job with the whistle, complicated game to umpire.

I think it depends which week you play the staff team, some weeks they show up and others they are short.

We won by 4 points with a kick on the final siren to win. We played one short again, as we were missing a girl. Surely there must be a doggies girl out there willing to run around?
