I think that purely from a social and taxation point of view, as well as the masses of people wanting the ****er dead, allowing a clear inclusion of Harvey Norman (Gerry Harvey) would be the go. But death is a cruel mistress, and so is ClarkeM.

There is no rule saying that the death is only counted with the local time, only that the deadline is in AEDT. Therefore it can be assumed that the game takes place entirely within the AEDT calendar year.

I had a panic attack that I had him on my list. Lost track of my own list after seeing 59 others haha. Thankful I didn’t… but to be fair, it was still a worthy shot to have him on your list if you did.

I read about him early today and since my American site's list wasn't due until 3.59pm our time, I added him. I didn't have a sub either. Missed the points by that much... grrrrrr

It’s a no point for me, absolutely.

We are blessed to have a timezone that is ahead of most countries where celebrities reside and for the same reason we need to honour the Wikipedia date of death as is the time of the location they die. That’s the crux of the game.

The game is “who will die in 2022”.

Betty White died in 2021.

Pretty simple

This is a serious competition, GC. There's a badge on the line. 2021 only I say.

And just to add the elaboration as to why this rule holds up:

Also, worth noting that we go by the age of people (100-age) when it comes to scoring right... so by the same token, we take their age at the time of the death in their local time to determine their score.

If John Smith was 39 and turned 40 on Jan 1st, 2022 but died on Dec 31st, 2021 (US Time - while it was 8am AUS time), then he dies as a 39 year old. Which is 61 points for the 2021 game.

I think we just have to keep it as the date of their death (in the timezone it happens) given we do the same for their birth...

Maybe you jinxed the game ClarkeM - you made the following post halfway down the first page, and the "extremely rare" situation has happened two years in a row... But you did create an allowance for it with the introduction of a sub

So I'm thinking, and I know the chances of it happening are EXTREMELY rare, but thinking of nominating a 21st "Sub" celebrity who is counted if in case your celebrity bites the dust prior to New Years Day in whatever country they're in. Just to avoid the rigmarole and contention of last year's game.

If no one dies then the sub is just ignored for the rest of the game. Figure it will help people nominate their lists before forgetting to as they might want to wait until closer to New Years...

I don't know, maybe I need another coffee.

No replacement, it’s past deadline now as you’ve rightfully pointed out. A deadline which was not forced upon you, you signed up to the game per the rules listed.
Correct, your list was valid at the deadline. A deadline which comes after some countries are already in 2023 and a deadline which is before some countries enter 2023. Such is death. Such is life. Move on.

Ironically I think Little Johnny Howard (children overboard and the start of the rise of racist/bogan Australia) and Tony (wink wink, treats women like pigs) Abbott were worse/more offensive to me on a personal level than Slow-Mo, but definitely plenty to hate about that prick.

The flog on my list I really want to see snuff it though is Andrew Tate, can you imagine the meltdowns and paranoid rants from the anti Vax cookers and those misogynistic man babies on Facebook ? It would be amazing haha
