I’ve seen the potential LOB has

Polson needs gym time and foot skills

Had the dash and seems to get to right spots but that disposal is country footy standard

Like Lochie, Polson has good foot skills but when you aren't used to pace etc they can struggle. Not very keen on the small forward role for him. Trying to adjust and learning a new role must be hard

He's far better running and linking from the attacking side of centre. He looked all class at junior level doing this and hit the scoreboard often.

I hope this is true. Deserves to be a one club player.

Would love him to join the 300 club as well.

Can understand the appeal of joining another team for a chance at a premiership, but obviously very few get that lucky as it's hard to know who will win.
If Murph stays loyal he will be cemented as a loyal Carlton person forever and will always be welcome at the club, who no doubt would help him post-career if need be.

Leave now, when the club clearly wants him to stay, and it could just fracture and sour the relationship somewhat and he may not have a club to call 'home' after his career.

It's all a sum of the parts exercise.

As it stands, the CFC currently have 2 players that require stopping at all costs; Cripps & CCurnow.
Dow shouldn't be too far behind and then we have Docherty and to my mind, Marchbank, just at this stage.

Not every player has to set the wheel rolling, but just to be a cog in the machine.
I don't really care for too many individuals in a team sport, but just the right parts of the total sum.

Should SPS and Weitering reach potential, we may find ourselves with plenty of match-winners on the park. The trick is then up to the coaches.

We certainly have a huge amount of young talent on our list now and on paper, plenty of guys who could develop into stars of the game.

Cripps, Curnow & Docherty are already stars....how good is to have one on each line.

On potential, i think Pickett, McKay, Dow, LOB, SPS, Fisher, Kennedy, Weitering, Marchbank and Willo could all become guns. Not necessarily all stars of the game but at least very, very good players contributing in a premiership team. All are first round draft picks except Fisher and Willo.

We would hope that most of these players become 'solid' players and not become busts: Cuningham, Byrne, Macreadie, Garlett, Lang, Plowman
If any of the other recent draftees become regular best 22 players it's a bonus.

Unfortunately for him he's had to be re-invented given our lack of small forwards and he's far down the pecking order in midfield understandably.
No real room for him in our midfield.

Our midfield is unfortunately far too small already for another one.
Samo, Fisher and LOB will all be on the smaller side.

Yeah, look at Richmond and they have a lot of midfielders between the 185-190cm range. They have a few under that but more solid bodies overall. Their smalls are mostly specialist small forwards whereas our smalls are midfielders. We definitely should be looking at midfielders who can build size but also maintain their pace.

Will Brodie = 189cm
Will Setterfield = 190cm
Jack Scrimshaw = 193cm

SOS, do the thing pls.

Pace?

Collier-Dawkins in the draft would be good if we can trade down a little.

I have loved Polson’s pressure the last two weeks just what we have been crying out for. No way we drop him because of a few brain fades.
He got to some really good positions today, but sadly was unable to finish off his hard work. Getting to good positions is half the battle. If he can keep doing this then hopefully the other half will fall into place for him.

Another reason why I don't understand the fascination with trading pick one, if we get it, for Shiel (or making Shiel the centerpiece of a pick one trade). He's only 182cm.

Totally agree with RudyBlue's post at the end of the last thread that it'd be a dangerous game trying to outbid all other clubs for Shiel as a FA. Do the deal now if it's on the table. Use 2019 first pick if possible. It's fair in that Shiel would have walked in 2019 as a FA and GWS would have got less compo for him.

They'll get a 1st round pick for him next year in any event. Likely in the early teens.

There is no way I would trade pick 1 for Dylan Shiel unless we're getting something else back (for example, we trade 1 to GCS for 4 and 5, and trade 5 to GWS for Shiel, leaving us with pick 4 and Shiel). Even then I would rather use picks 4 and 5 and get Shiel next year as a FA.

FMD , must we remind ourselves the Dow and LOB are first year and 18 years old. Before the season started, most expected a handful of games, not the massive contribution that they have been asked to make.
Now after half a season, they are getting better and better each round, can there be any doubt that they have what it takes?

I think its amazing that they both can contribute meaningfully with just the measly one preseason, battling each week against the best midfielders in the competition. Lets not compare them to Cerra who has a fully mature midfield led by fyffe to lean on or ed richards , who is not being asked to bear the midfield brunt that our 2 are. These guys are doing us proud.

And instead of focusing on the first half v Freo as our judgement, we should look at recent performances against Geelong, Sydney and now Port. Our very young list and with massive injuries out, have equipped themselves amazingly well. We look as though with luck, we could beat them- all three top 4 contending teams! Is it not hard to extrapolate to when Doc, Williamson, Murphy, Kennedy Kreuzer, Lang, Marchbank are all back in and fit that we could have won these games. This is without even considering the natural development next year of all the younger players.

Add the big fish and Lukosius and there is one hell of an improvement coming down the turn pike.

Agree, however I think we are still 1-2 class midfielders short as our younger midfielders develop. I think we need this more than we need the top forwards in the Draft.

And so I would try to get Shiel in during the coming trade period.

Source; Former Bulldogs player (same era as the rumored player).

Carlton are attempting to lure one of the Bulldogs favorite sons away from the kennel.
Lachie hunter, luke Dahlhaus or jack macrae.

Murphy set to re-sign with us next week, or early the following week.
The only offer he was considering was with Geelong.

Wonder if he enjoyed playing at HB...?

You’d be hoping that Simmo’s 300th put some perspective in his thinking to remain with the CFC (and that we stayed the course with our list management strategy/remuneration).

Isn’t this almost the same situation as griffen?

Captain, wanted to free up cap space, moves to potentially have more success..
