Maybe SOS has convinced Reid that we are going after Lukosious with pick 1, but could settle for Walsh with pick 2 and a second rounder, if they could manufacture it.

In that scenario Adelaide would simply take Rankine and attempt to trade for Lukosius once his draft contract is completed. Theyve resigned themselves to the fact they can only get one of them and Rankine isnt exactly chopped liver. They'd be absolutely stoked to land either.

Cant see why Gold Coast would give up a guaranteed star at pick 2 for two 'maybes' lower in the pecking order unless they were guaranteed Walsh, a walkup starter for them next year, which they desperately need. As such, I reckon any downgrade deal would involve us receiving 3 (not 2) and a 2nd round pick or player from Adelaide. This might be attractive to Sos if he sees little separating the Top 3 in the long run. It would also give both Adelaide and Gold Coast a strong incentive to do the deal as they would get exactly what they want/need.

We will take Walsh at Pick2. SOS has a gentleman agreement already in place with the crows. It’s why we paid overs with McGovern

C’mon people read the tea leaves. SOS being coy in the media today was a giveaway. Adelaide will trade up to Pick2 and then we will do a little swap and get something back from Adelaide. Will minimise the McGovern deal and save face. GC will be much better off with multiple top 25 picks than more singular top 5 messiah picks that they may inevitably lose in 2 years
