Lessons are learnt from History, our history suggest that our two main gorilla backmen are not up to it. Rowe and Jones have been taken to the cleaners many times. Doc coming back might help Jones, however he should be directing our young blokes more than helping Jones with his experience. You bring in May a former captain, much better player, who Doc can rely on without having to help. Instead May can become another director who will beat his man and help the youngsters.

Next year's first for May and a player or a half decent pick coming back I would do. Backlines win you flags.

Ugh, this trade (and draft) coverage thing is so cynically commercial, so shamelessly cheap, concocted and makey-uppy, like everything else the AFL touches - such blatant steps to shape the product into something it's not in ways that nobody has really asked for (aside from the league's commercial partners, of course). A naive attempt to trump up prestige by mimicking US sports in the misplaced belief that this will somehow elevate the status of the game. It's all a bit embarrassing, really.

The only thing keeping me invested in any way is the love for my football club - the rest of the 'show' is of less interest with each passing minute.

Yep, won't be long before the AFL comes up with some contrived bullshit to run in December & January to try and have a 12 month news / pay TV / ca$h grab cycle.

As per the facts ie the ladder 11 wins equals 13th place which is Pick 6. Somehow you’ve got us winning less than that and finishing much higher than 13th. We won’t be winning close to 11 games and hence not close to Pick 10-12.

But to your greater point it’s not clear why Port would want to give up this years picks when there’s so many good south Australians. If anything they would be wanting go trade future picks to get more picks in this year and slowly trade up to have enough to get 3 of Lukosius l, Rankine, Rozee, Hately and Valentane.

What facts are these?

11 wins got 13th this year.

It got 10th the three years before that.
9th the year before those.
10th the couple years before those.

2018 was the outlier.

10 wins would probably have us around 12th on the ladder, pending percentage.

Pick 7.
Factor in any high end FA compo (probably only 1)
Factor in any high end Academy bids (2 seems typical)

So Pick 10.

Math checks out.

Hopefully gives us between 6-8 wins and helps us attract players like coniglio!! Someone with common sense !!

Jones could possibly regain his 2017 form with stability back in def. At least he won't be missing for heaps of games from suspension like May. Kind of reminds me of Waite...good game or two, then missing for 3 etc.

Jones was confused with our insanely complicated game plan. He was positioned incorrectly time after time after time.

I'd keep Jones and get him to do a few simple things, do them well, and nothing more.

Our coaches need to partially own Jones slide from 2017 to 2018. I have faith he can regain that 2017 form.

Lazy, he’ll be yet another Hawk high draft pick bust they’ve brought in like O’rourke and that other dude I can’t remember now. Glad we avoided.

Edit - Dayle Garlett was the one.

Ty Vickery as well. HUGE success for the Dawks.

Clarko drinks his own bathwater in that he believes he is the AFL resurrection whisperer.

Train wreck awaits em'
