I preface this by saying - I like Barker - he seems like a good guy and committed to coaching and developing both himself and the team.
But - it's just not good governance to keep him on board with a new coach. Barker has already showed his hand that he wants the top job. No statement on Barker's ethics, but when the going gets tough next year - he has the potential to be an destabilising influence (whether intentionally or not). I wish him the best of luck - but it's not fair on Bolton to keep him as an assistant now that Barker has had a taste of the top gig (and openly declared that he wants to be the head coach at the CFC).
