It's an interesting system, just to clarify you're saying Bell's career so far most closely matches some of those higher trajectories on your graph? I know you've stated previously that mature age players tend to be overrated on your system, I assume that's because they're generally physically ready to go & so progress comparatively well at the start of their careers. I'd suggest Bell is just an example of this in the extreme because he's big & can run all day.

He is right in the bottom half of that top group of six lines at the four year mark.

If you were to forecast based on an average career, it looks like he is headed for an AFL career of approx 11 to 13 years.

Yes, getting recruited at the age of 20 does skew things slightly in his favour for the rankings (this is one thing I will maybe have to tweak over time).

If we assumed he was recruited at age 18 and did not get a game in his first two years his current draft pick ranking would be 41 which means we would only expect another 2 years of football at 2015 levels of output. Doing this skews things too far the other way.

His 'real' ranking is likely higher than pick 9, but not by much.

I'd rather have Aish than Treloar. Treloar would cost too much In terms of salary cap and draft picks. As a philosophy recruiting the messiah just hasn't worked for us. I'll always appreciate what Judd brought to the club but no more short cuts.

Time to build from the ground up.

It's just if he's interested and what we can cough up to gain his services. Handy on a wing.

I'd rather pay for Treloar. He's gonna smash us as a Pie for the rest of his career.

Right. And let's not forget that, on average, every one of us has one testicle.

Happens to the worst of us...

EDIT: I highly recommend watching this clip. Seriously funny sketch!

I'm sure I learnt years ago that 51% of the population is female.

So now I'm trying to imagine what 0.98 of a testicle looks like.

... And now I'm trying NOT to imagine what it looks like!

I am sure he said a lot more than the single quote they use in this article, but **** me, what a pissant reason to give for there being any doubt about the level of compensation.

"It's like, really complex and stuff. We base it off heaps of things like, you know... other players and stuff. Plus there's the vibe of it to consider. That's pretty important and stuff too."

From last years fiasco. What sort of ass-clowns are running this show?

"Carlton wants answers as to how it will get no compensation for losing father-son recruit Jarrad Waite who has defected, as a free agent, to North Melbourne. Despite many telephone calls between the Blues and AFL legal counsel Andrew Dillon on Sunday night, there is still no explanation on how Waite walks to Arden St for free.
If the men at the coal face of football — working at AFL House and sitting around the Carlton board room — cannot make sense of free-agency compensation, pity the fans.
This is all contrary to the AFL’s longstanding principle of transparency. The league will declare what its chief executive Gillon McLachlan is paid to the cent, but it still cannot explain to the clubs — let alone the fans — how its free-agency compensation works."
