Wish these clubs (including ours) would cut the bullshit and just get deals done for the player they want like West Coast did with Redden. No holding up other deals, no haggling over moving up six spots in the fourth round, they just did what they needed to do to get the player they want. Richmond are adding a guy who regularly turns matches on their head with his brilliant passages of play, just ******* pay what he's worth so both clubs and whatever players involved can get on with things.
That only happens when it is a win win trade. Most times it is going to be a win loss. It depends on who holds the cards. The player (when he is uncontracted) or the club (when he is contracted)
Contracted player eg yarran : You want him you have to pony up = we win , they lose(pay overs)
Uncontracted player eg Henderson: You want him, then help us mitigate our losses = we lose , they win(pay unders)
All the bullshit is mere negotiating tactics so that the two sides can feel happier about their loss, albeit picks or players. Added to this mix is the expectations of the members. A brief glance in this forum soon tells you that there is a wide variation in peoples ratings of our various players. So member expectation is also trying to be managed as well.
