Not the point at all! Mayes is a good player but not worth 2 of ours. Sheesh.
Bingo. I just read the article where the 2 for 1 is mentioned. It also states we could get pick 17 for both but Lions would rather offer 21. Seriously, wtf??

We should be getting 17 & 21!! Or Mayes & 21. If we do both for any of those 3 deals, I won't hear of this new Carlton nonsense. It'll be business as usual, time to stock up on lube, us getting reamed...again.

It better bloody not happen.

All I want is our GWS recruits to be Sumner SIde Up :)

I reckon Wednesday will be another boring day of zilch trades, but then everything goes mad on Thursday

remember though, our coach is ex hawthorn....do you think suckling or schoenmakers would look good if they played for another club? the strength is in the system and playing to it :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
I see your point, Doc. Suckling maybe, Schoey I doubt. We don't have the luxury of Hawthorn's playing talent though, do we?

They can carry one or 2, we can't. Great system or not. The system will take time anyway, time I'd like used on a young player learning the ropes. Not retreads who, once the system is up and running, will be of no value to the cause.

We are talking Walker & Kerridge here, they really aren't that good. Let's save picking up some role players until we are a little more established. They will then have a defined role to play.

Article this arvo on Bailey.

Sounds like proximity to Seaford and the advancement of St K's rebuild are weighty factors.

Need to get Weitering around to have a chat with him, they played alongside each other in the Vic Country team, also tell him with Henderson leaving, he can have the #23 jumper, the same one his father wore in a premiership at the Blues.

Selling off two players we got via the rookie draft in exchange for a first round selection IS maximising our assets.
Garbage. Never bought a cheap car, done it up & sold it for more?

Are our boys still only rookie standard? And would Mayes net the pick 8 he was drafted at?

I'm a big fan of Mayes but not at that price.

A quick summary of who we've so far been linked with:

Tomlinson
Phillips
Plowman
Sumner
Lamb
Treloar
Aish
Carlisle
Lennon
Walker
Kerridge
Clarke
Mayes

Just on Bailey, he could change his mind up until draft day according to Emma.

All he has to do is say "sorry, I've had second thoughts please don't pick me". If the club he nominates is sympathetic they just don't match the offer. e.g.

pick 25 Melbourne: "we'd like to bid on Bailey at this pick".
St Kilda: "sorry it's too high". (i.e. in a gentleman's agreement they won't bid)
Carlton: "We'll take him!"

Everyone's been saying all year we have to be bold and aggressive with out trading, and now that we are, people are bitching and moaning.
Pathetic.
Selling for unders is being aggressive? Ok then.

Let's trade Gibbs & Menz to the Crows for their newly acquired pick 28. Another 2 for 1. That would be off the charts aggressive.

I'm a big fan of Mayes but not at that price.

That is exactly what we would be doing with those guys, bought them cheaply in the rookie draft and are selling them then for more with a possible first-rounder.

I don't understand what you have your knickers in a twist over here.

Can someone pick apart my proposed 4-way trade? I can't see how anyone loses if it happens.

Gold Coast in: Seedsman / out: Pick 22
Collingwood in: Aish / out: Seedsman
Brisbane in: Bell and Casboult / out: Aish and Pick 21
Carlton in: Pick 21 and Pick 22 / out: Bell and Casboult

Everyone happy? Seems a bargain for each club.
Gold Coast get the guy they want with the price they want.
Collingwood get the man they want with someone they were trading anyway.
Brisbane get the players they want with essentially a single pick (as Aish to PSD the most likely).
Carlton get two picks that can be used in so many ways (Anderson from Hawks and GWS players). Yes losing Casboult hurts but if we can replace him with GWS stocks we'll be better off long term.

Thanks for all the jousting this evening, folks. It has been fun.

Sunny weather forecast in Melbourne mañana and Thursday. Might log off for a couple of days and get some sunburn into me.

By which time we'll have traded Clem Smith for Ollie Wines the moment I step away from the typin' machine.

You think Mayes is worth Casboult & Bell. I do not. Pretty simple really.

I can't fault it to be honest, great work.
