burgess is a massive recruit for us

Proof is in the pudding, if he can get us to a normal or less than normal injury list week in and week out then we’ll be playing in GF’s.

I just hope he’s a believer in individual programs and can look outside the box to find differing remedies.

I also pray he’s a believer in building fitness at a lower level of football and doesn’t believe training blocks can imitate an opponent trying to smash you at every turn in the full effect of top level football

Buttifant and Russell are both highly regarded and respected specialists fitnesses gurus and yet both failed to have an impact at our club.
Let’s see if Burgess does move over to us and if his performance is any better.

Just like Buttifant.
Just like Russell.

How would anyone know if it’s going to work out?
My 1st thought was hmmm Crows been doing that well? But the more important question is, how does their injury list look.

I went to all bar one game in Vic this year. The amount of times we went inside 50 and bombed it long to Charlie/McKay when we had other options on their own was nuts. The opposition just swarmed to them and we had little chance

The WCE game the first time we really lowered our eyes. We kicked more goals and the smalls could finally do their jobs.

It's my biggest frustration with how we play

The additon of 6-6-6, standing on the mark and HTB changes have made AFL an even more running game. You need to run in numbers and pick the best options. Good sides hit mobile targets inside 50 whether tall or small. We don't

How much of the long bombing do you put down to the following:
- player looking like they are acting under a coaching directive
- player under pressure from the opponent
- player lacking poise to lower their eyes
- player getting overexcited and ignore coaching instruction

Crows are not happy to lose him. They also don't seem to have had many soft tissue injuries
That's all I want to hear about.
Excellent.😊

From memory (according to articles/news I used to see): I thought Burgess was regarded as the best in the business, then went to Liverpool, came back and his reputation wasn’t as good.

Now, he’s back to being the best?

He is not key position height so he would be a 3rd tall. We are going backwards if he is to be played as our 3rd tall defender. His best role IMO is as a ruck/forward because he is a better footballer than Pittonet and he has the footy smarts as a forward to complement TDK.
I am not sure what key position height is anymore to be honest. Jack is taller than both Charlie and Kemp who play KP roles.

FWIW, I agree he is best used as a fwd/relief ruck.

If we can gain a proper KPD this off-season. I suspect JSOS and Kemp will be competing for that 3rd tall/utility spot.

World football is elite

Our game would be VAFA levels when you compare state of the art facilities and personnel
