Under 3.0 is quick
Under 2.9 is very quick
Under 2.85 is best in draft
Get someone who reads the game .2 of a second faster than those around him, and he is off. Even the fastest in the draft isn't catching him.

Reading the game first. Acting first. Moving first.

Speed is great for run and carry and line breaking, but clearing stoppage and bursting from stoppage you don't need to have elite speed.

Toby Greene was only top ten for yo yo but he can play football maybe they see the the same quality’s in Hollands.
Anticipation and reaction time are hard to measure

So right. The fastest footballer I have ever seen - bar none - played for Carlton.

His name was Greg Williams.

Poor old Andy Lee
True story. I flew up to Brisbane for Carlton v Gold Coast (their first ever game) sat next to Andy Lee by sheer coincidence. He'd already broken up with Megan and she'd taken up with Hampson.

During the third quarter he went to get a beer and whilst he was away we bought the sub (might have been Armfield) on to the ground. When Andy came back he said to me "who did we sub off" I replied "Hampson". He said " Good. He's sh!t".

I chuckled.

So many hotties right there......

I'd feel terrible if my wife ever dumped me.

But I'd feel less crap if she left me for Shaun Hampson... He's 6 foot bloody 7 and ******* gorgeous!

The clock starts from when the player first moves. As opposed to a 100m sprint that starts when the gun goes off.

Counteracting that though is the fact that sprinters use blocks at the start that really gives them great momentum at the start compared to a standing start which i assume they use at the draft trials

Too nice...?
I really have no idea, but there was something about the way the way Plowman presented himself, plus the fact at times he was the only player in defence in those dark times when others seem to have gone too far forward, and the fact of some good finishes in the B&F that makes me ask. I just think he could offer some good insights. Seems like a thinker. But whatever he does now, wish him all the best

Elijah Hollands

STRENGTHS:
  • Overhead marking
  • Scoreboard impact
  • Athleticism
  • Defensive pressure
  • One-on-ones
  • Goal sense
  • Dual-sided
IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Further midfield development
  • Post-injury durability

Seems he was deemed a somewhat dynamic forward before the injury. I wonder if our targeting of him is more around being a medium forward or as a midfielder.

As a mid it would seem he's another that's a bit samey into the mix, big bodied without great athleticism, so would be an odd one to target.
Hope he is a classy disposer of the ball -any intel on his kicking skills?

Going to be a very quiet off-season for us as we simply do not have the list spots or salary cap to go chasing OOC or free agents unless something extraordinary arises in the next couple of weeks.
Should know the initial delistings today.
Yeah. Somewhat fascinated to see where Nigel and Philpy sit. I reckon Philp would be a big chance to be moved to the rookie list, but that means creating room and running the gauntlet of someone poaching him in the cross over(read SOS).

Hopeful Durdin stays as that cheap back up and VFL leader.

I reckon we will draft 2-3 players, trade in 1 (likely Hollands) and upgrade two rookies.

As we sit, we are three rookies overstocked, who must be catered for.

Ed’s retirement gives us one rookie spot.

LOB is seemingly done with those who have gone past him. A chance he can find a suitor as, despite popular opinion, he is a viable AFL player, albeit with some imperfections. Small chance retained, but I believe he could be delisted with little or no impact on the salary cap. Ideally he gets to play out his contract, but list spots are “that tight” (Binns couldn’t get a game this year and is almost certainly ahead of him).

Some chance Durdin simply is delisted, but that would indicate Young accepted as a long term player, despite seemingly falling from favour and maybe having a disconnect with the defensive “general”. Plenty to play out.

By current rulings, both Boyd and Mirkov who are contracted, need to be elevated to the main list. Some talk of rule change which may give them another year on the rookie list as mid year additions. We will absolutely promote Boyd (IMO), there may be some manipulation around Mirkov due to his condition. We could fiddle with delisting and re rookieing him to reset his rookie list tenure, allowing another three years. There is, of course, some chance he retires.

Ed retiring, LOB somehow moving on and a Boyd upgrade would leave our rookie list at quota. We have a very solid rookie list though. Realistically Cottrell, Cincotta, S.Durdin and O’Keeffe will ultimately need upgrading at some stage, when list spots will be even tighter than they currently are.

I feel certain we will upgrade at least two rookies this year.

A bare minimum two draftees (expect 3), a trade and two rookie upgrades suggest we need five or six main list spots, or some “creative accounting” shifting someone to the rookie list.
Trades Dow and Fisher along with Plowman, Honey and Philp gives us five. Ideally another one required, but unless we don’t retain Marchy and Cuners, it would come from a yet unheralded trade. (Most obvious Young if there is a disconnect???)

Aware this should be in List Management but responding to a post here.

Has a slightly off centre vibe. May well be good in a development role.

12 years in the system as a pro, name on a locker at the Blues.

A fine contribution.

wish him well in whatever he pursues next.
