Funnily enough, watch that Carlton doco where (from memory) Jack went back to Italy with Sergio.

Part way through, SOS turned up and surprised them and when Jack and Steve met, after being away for a few weeks, they basically shook hands - very awkward and no 'bro' hugs but as you say they may not have wanted to put on a show for the cameras.
