I understand the criticism of playing Doc.

But I will still maintain my hunch that he is retiring. Two bouts of cancer, three acl reconstructions, another baby on the way, and he has seemingly enjoyed the coaching side of things.

If he does decide to pull up stumps, I think the decision to see him can be seen in a different light.

If Doc was picked to play in an Elimination final because he was retiring and it was a farewell, Voss, the MC and Doc should pack their bags and any player from the leadership group who approved it.

I dont think its true because as far as I’ve heard and can see, Doc is a team man, a Carlton man and would never put himself and his desire to play a farewell game ahead of the needs of the team, especially in a final.

I was really disappointed with the media and * fans being critical of Scott for not picking Heppel for a home farewell game , stuff that, their coach refused to pick a player he didn’t think was in the best 23 because he had a game to win, one if they won would have put them in the finals.

I didn’t agree with Doc playing, but all i see it as is, Voss believing that Doc coming off an ACL and having not played a game in 6 months, was a better option than Binns, Lord and Cinc.

If he was picked for any other reason, then our leaders have lost the plot.

Alright, those that have watched Houston much more than me, sell me.

Is he as good as some say? Or could he be another Paul Johnson that technically has an elite peg and delivery but skill goes to water once thrust into our team with enough pressure put on him?
He is an elite ball user coming off half back. He is not super quick but moves smoothly and hits targets. He would be the best kick in our team by a mile. He is ok defensively too. I have absolutely no issue with him coming from a football perspective but I doubt we can get him due to salary cap concerns and trade capital required to do the deal. Sadly I think the horse has bolted for us to get Houston.

Whose spot does Houston take and is he a bigger upgrade over them
than Berry over Durdin/ Motlop?
Everything is suggesting we won’t trade #11 this year, so I don’t think that’s the decision.

If we did get him, maybe we’re not so reliant on Saad, Gov, Boyd to move the ball out of the backline.

Typical Carlton. Always looking for the quick fix. Chase the big name player that's contracted and will cost a fortune. Voss knows his coaching career is on the line. Stuff up this trade and we could be in a world of hurt in a few years when tassie comes in.

Why is Geelong lauded for trading 1st round picks for fun, yet when we do it, it’s this messiah, quick fix rubbish? Geelong, who are very successful, continually give up their 1st round picks for established players.

2024 1st and 2025 1st for Houston and Port 2024 1st

Port dont have a 1st, Houston is contracted and Port have targets that require a 1st round pick.

If I’m them I’m listening to offers that have a current 1st round pick.

Unless.

They are after Luko and need a F1 pick as GC can’t use a current first due to Lombard.

I dont see him costing too much.

100%

You think the sea of Navy Blue and the wall of sound in the semi-final against Melbourne didn't leave an impression on many ... certainly left an impression on Christian Petracca for one.

We just need No. 17 to get back on top again ...
Delusional.

Membership numbers are covering up 30 years of administrative negligence.

Voss is crap, Sayers a cheerleader and Cook can’t wait to retire.

Old and slow.

So you'd trade two first rounders for a 28 year old half back flanker?
If it fills an obvious need, absolutely.

The messiah complex is only an issue when you’re expecting them to take you from irrelevance to the daylight. Trading a first for needs when youre squarely in a 2-3 year premiership window is not the messiah. Unclear whether he’s a very naughty boy though.

That was in Ralph’s article, that we would try and turn F1 into a current 1st to trade for him, but that we wouldn’t consider trading #11

It's a boys club

Port are pushing this make no mistake. They know Houston isn't getting any younger. If they can get 2 first rounders for a 28year old they would be packing his bags
