LDU and Cerra will be 10+ year footballers. Dow will not be.

My point is putting all our eggs (12, F1 and F2) into one basket (3) is a risky move.

12, F1 and F2 on the trade market would get you an A+ player on the trade market. And Pick 3 is an untried footballer. It’s risky.

You don’t hit every pick every time. We f**ked pick 3 in the past and many many other high picks - Dow, SPS, Philp, OBrien, Stocker, Lucas, Boekhurst, Bootsma, etc etc

Don't forget next years F1 will be like when we took Moir. So many academy kids it will end up in the 30s. It's not a real F1. Especially if we're backing ourselves to be top 4.

If we are to trade for pick 3, I really really hope we use it on Sid Draper!! His explosiveness, pace, clearance work as well as his leadership would really transform our midfield

Reckon he will be an unbelievable player and only way I believe we could get him is if we secure pick 3 because the Crows would snap him up with pick 4

Holy shit - he is some kind of player!
Definitely would pick this kid with absolutely no hesitation.
Especially liked how the video kept saying "Camporeali to Draper".
I hope we hear that at the Blues for the next 15 years!

A suggestion on the Eagles board was #3 and #63 for #12, #14, whatever we get for Kennedy and Moir.

I'd hope we ran from that at a great rate of knots.

This is potentially in the works because the Eagles need something. We are not necessarily chasing it hard.

I'll never understand why clubs like WC, tigs and North aren't all over Kennedy. He'd be top 5 in their B&F next year. He's not a superstar but so much better than the spuds they've currently got in their best 22. And he's a solid citizen and would come cheap.

Baffling.

Funny coz ive seen Ben hit targets more than multiple times and this myth that he can’t hit targets is a fantasy but receipts will be taken going into next year for all those who are doubting Ben and Lucas …

How was he vice captain and MVP being the spud that so many on here claim him to be 🤔

Shhhh... we all know he'll be a 300 game club great but we're waiting til after the draft to talk about it.

Like Greg Williams with pace.

If we rated Lalor and Draper similar and both were on the board at 3, we maybe could sell down to 4 with the crows. Would they swap their future 1st for the F2 from Brisbane ?

Not really. We want to go to the draft with 4 picks and currently only have 2 before 60. Not sure who we are picking in the 60s if not ben and lucas.

Thinks its less likely then likely lucas would last till the rookie draft anyway.

Agree with bid range on ben.
If Lucas slid to rookie we might do an unscheduled rookie upgrade eg Cincotta (assuming allowed)

We all know once Carlton is set on someone, know matter who slips we will stick to that player.

I dont know anything about the draftees, However if they are sold on O’Sullivan being Walsh’s cousin, then Draper or whoever lasting to pick 3 wont matter.

We all know this now.

All I know is i want someone fast, with good skills and strong if we get pick 3 given we sold a farm of picks for him.

Risky business and it makes me nervous.

The converse of this also seems to be true - once it’s clear Carlton is stuck on a player no other club seems to bid on that player before us eg Hollands

If we are in fact keen on someone like O’Sullivan we will probably make it clear he’s ours and likewise he would make clear he wants to go to us instead of at Picks 1 or 2 and given there’s great options available to them, the Tigers and North would pick others instead

That only works if it’s a reach at our pick?

Taking your example, if we make it known we are keen on O’Sullivan, and both Richmond and North Melbourne rated him, why wouldn’t they take O’Sullivan before our pick?

Making it known we wanted Boekhurst didn’t work well for us.

I hope we take advantage if we do this trade for pick 3. This time is different, if we are to believe they contacted us, then we need to ask for a bit more than just pick 3, because at the end of the day they need our two picks to get Baker and keep a 1st for themselves too. The threat of Fremantle to get both baker and Bolton is real as they have 3 1st rounders.

I would be also asking for at least a 2nd round pick or dare i say it the pick they get for Barrass. And throw in Carrol too.

So that will leave us with pick 3, round 2 and the later picks for points that we can possible move up or do something with.

We have a bit of the upper hand here. It’s how i would play it.

Westcoast want Bolton and they cant lose him to Fremantle. No one else can offer this hand to them but us. It wont be St Kilda. Sydneys picks are at the bottom end of the 1st round.

And i dont think Richmond want future picks.

It’s ruthless yes, but i want us to be.

Isn’t that what you want? Conviction in your draft choice is a bad thing now?

I’m with you, CeeDee. I’ve spent time this afternoon watching footage of guys I thought would never fall to us!

I probably have it the other way with Lalor over Draper. But by oath… you could see either of them as a point of difference in our midfield. Phwoar!
Fans will lose their minds over Draper kicking in my view.

What high picks has Austin missed on?
I wouldn't worry too much he is bloody good at this game.

Yeah true, but none of these players were picked by Austin.

Austin is not a wizard: Durdin, Motlop, Moir, Hollands. Jury is out on all of these kids.

And everyone had Dow at pick 3 or thereabouts, many pundits had him at 1.

If we give up Moir we are not looking at a flag window now.
