Holy shit - he is some kind of player!
Definitely would pick this kid with absolutely no hesitation.
Especially liked how the video kept saying "Camporeali to Draper".
I hope we hear that at the Blues for the next 15 years!
Yep, would take Draper in a heartbeat. He’s the Dangerfield replacement for Adelaide if they take him at 4 (which they most definitely will).

Ben also knows how to play with him. There’s a couple of times there where Ben doesn’t get sucked into the contest because he has confidence that Draper will win the ball and get it out to him.

Draper next to Walsh/Cerra and Crippa in the centre from R1 is making me a little bit excited.

This is fantasy land stuff. Not happening. Three live options still being considered (none of them involve Moir)

1. Turn 12 and 14 into 3 and some extra Campo points
2. Take 12 and 14 to the draft
3. Trade 12 for Houston and take 14 to the draft (if Pies / Suns / Power falls over)

I rate the likelihood in that order.

Thanks EP, always appreciate your input.

In terms of percentage, what would you rate the first option as?

That’s the one I’m honestly wanting the most.

The fact that we have all 3 options at play speaks to how good a situation we’ve put ourselves in.

If you want a good example:

We took Gibbs over Joel Selwood and look at what he achieved let alone be captain of his premiership teams.

Thanks for that Sticks...

Gibbs was almost universally annointed as #1. Harley Reid level of hype.

I don’t know Yazz at all. But we all know Eric Pascoe. ITK for sure for sure for sure and he’s just posted.
Ta. Had missed their post whilst responding to you.

Thanks EP...any chance that we find another pick in the 40's/50's that might come in a bit after player bids or do we not have the currency? I would back Austin/Agresta to find a player there, and gives us another crack at a young player or KPD

Lalor has already suffered a serious hamstring injury. Not sure you'd want to risk taking a player this high. Plays a really difficult position too. Similar to Humphries at Gold Coast. Finn is another that just doesn't do it for me. Not sure what all the hype is tbh.

I'd prefer we take the two first round picks in this draft every day of the week.
prefer option 3.

Our window is now - Houston plus 3 draftees + the other Irish kid.

Plenty of youth....

Personally, I reckon if we go for pick 3, we would want another pick before 40. I don’t know how

Selwood was a risk, had some injury concerns…

Gibbs was ruined early by being played off half back, when he arrived as a goal kicking mid…

We are in a special elite tiny club with our thoughts this year Flag.
I see you.😂💙

Which is also known as the Carlton curse, take a mid and spend a couple seasons knocking the natural mid attributes out of them.
We still do it even with established players - case in point- Cerra & Kennedy being played at half back

I'm surprised we aren't having more of a look at Tomlinson to be honest. Would be easy enough to get out of Melbourne and would be a great CHB for us.

I don't mind taking DGB as a rookie hit and see what he can do, but feel like Tomlinson would actually add to our defence.

After just watching highlight videos of both Lalor and Draper, at 3 it has be to Draper. Lalor didn't stand out in any real way. Medium mid/fwd with no real stand out qualities. Looks ok against kids his age, don't think it would translate to AFL.

Draper has a good frame, burst of pace, and would have a relationship with Campos. Think he's Round 1 material.

Just to join the dots for people worried about losing Moir.

The word is that West Coast approached us about pick #3. They need 12 and 14 so they can get Baker and keep a first round draft pick. It seems pretty clear we will need to get something back (not give something up) in order to run with that deal.

Note that afl.com is also suggesting North might approach us dangling pick #2 for #12 and #14.

It’s not us approaching these other teams. They are coming to us. Moir is not heading out the door.

Can’t deny this up-trade as being possible now. Yazz went early and posts rarely so, I’m comfortable with that call also.

Why wouldn’t North be an option also? Also, If I were Saints I’d be calling RIC for the top pick. RIC could have 6, 7, 8 ,9, 10, 11, 18 or thereabouts. They’d probably still Buddy/Roughy it, but it’s an incredible immediate rebuild.

Also, just an observation, but where was AA Dan Houston drafted?? The draft is a lottery in most selections. Injuries don’t dictate ability either. Lalor and Trainor will drop as a result. Cripps says hello.

Thanks for the info EP.

Personally I'm hoping for the options in reverse order.

I’m all for trading up for pick 3 but won’t be disappointed with 12/14. SOS (and/or the Club) screwed a few top 10 picks but reality is that we are far more likely to pick a genuine star the closer to pick 1 we are.

Also seems to be becoming more likely that they’ll make a valuable contribution from their first season, which should be made easier in a strong team, and which is still heading in the right direction for my greatest desire (all-in to get Cripps a flag).

It’s a smart play bc it allows us to add quality where we still desperately need it (midfields win flags and ours is short of the mark (/we don’t need another top grade KPP - a B-Grade KPD will suffice)) and it will take only a small part of our salary cap, helping with the TDK extension etc. By the time an extension is needed, Williams’ contract will be done.

I also wouldn’t be disappointed with Houston though!

In any case, despite the talk of the balanced nature of the draft, I think we’ll see a breakaway couple of groups at the top end by draft day.

As for FOS, has a bit of Daisy Thomas and Heeney about him I reckon but there are a bunch of great looking options.
