Surely Kennedy is only being traded for something of use. If it’s only going to be swallowed up with Campo bids, we’d be better off retaining him.

Especially given he can play multiple roles, including 3rd tall forward which is a flexibility need for us.

Gathering he is on 350-450k and doesn’t have a position. I think we will definitely like to see his wages off the books for 2025

Considering we’re not bringing in any high price recruits for 2025 we’re sorted for next year. He’s off the books after that anyway if we’re not getting anything for him.
Same result but we get another year with a valuable player on the books.

Unless we're getting a miracle play like Smith or Petracca into the club I don't see why we would need to clear Kennedy's salary off the books in 25, as surely the 25 salary cap is already set with Kennedy's contract included. If Kennedy does move it would allow us to shift salary from our higher rated players into 2025 - say $50-100k of each of Cripps, Weitering, Charlie, Harry and Williams and therefore free up up to $1m in 2026, but that would be about it.

Could there be something brewing for the final day?

Talk of Kennedy to Dogs, Kemp potentially to Saints...

CARL
OUT: Kemp + Kennedy
IN: 8

WB
OUT: Daniel + Macrae
IN: Kennedy + 32

STAINS
OUT: 8 + 32
IN: Kemp + Macrae + Daniel

This gives the Dogs extra currency to facilitate a trade for O'Halloran from GWS. Effectively replacing Daniel and Macrae with Kennedy and O'Halloran whilst also relieving them of Caleb's salary.

Stains are ponying up a bit here, but if you want a contracted KPP that is starting 22 who was drafted as a first round pick and we've put years of development into... then you pay a premium. Also, if you "absolutely" think Battle is worth 8, then surely Kemp + Macrae + Daniel is worth pick 8 and 32...

We get another pick before the bid... at the cost of losing 2 contracted players which will also hurt our depth. But it's a pretty good pick...

Anything involving 30+ for either Kennedy or Kemp is pointless. We won't be enticed to do so unless we trade each of them for a pick in the 30's that we can combine into a mid 20's pick... I don't care how strong this draft is, losing those 2 for the sake of a mid 20's pick is just not worth it...

Looks pretty bad for the dogs but something may indeed be up

He will make it work. I have no doubt about that. He has that Silvagni spirit that doesn't like to lose. He will scrap and fight till he wins the contest. He is exactly what you want as a backman.

Correct, absolute effort is his one wood and that’s exactly what you need as a key defender
Don’t think he was a great forward at all, and imo was looking at being left out more often than not up forward.

Now get little Durds in the guts ffs

How about this:

Blues: Out: Kennedy, Kemp In: Busslinger, 35
Dogs: Out: Busslinger, 35 In: Kennedy, 22
Saints: Out: 8 In: Kemp, 22
Swans: Out: 19, 22: In: 8

Rationale:

Kemp does not have a clear position right now. It's not down back, it could be up forward, it's not midfield. We are looking at JSOS for CHB, but our coverage is Young. Busslinger is 198cms and has a footy IQ.

Dogs have Jones for another year, Lobb for another couple, and can't play Darcy, JUH and Naughton up forward together very much. Darcy and Naughton are the swingmen so can go back. Plus Dale plays tall.

The Saints and Swans pick swap speaks for itself.

Edit: Or more straightforward.

Saints and Swans do the swap. Saints give us 19 and 47 for Kemp. Dogs give us 35 for Kennedy. We hope Trainor falls to us for we grab another 18 year old tall.

We won’t need to clear his wage but there’s benefits in doing it. Sounds as if he has signed with the dogs

If Kennedy's on his way to the Dogs, might be cutting it fine with the Dogs, got alot going on with Smith and Daniels.

They have 35, 48 and picks coming in for the other two. Should be a simple agreement in there somewhere.
