I remember the AFL forcing all clubs to cut back on their soft cap around the league, which resulted in 100s of staff from all clubs losing their jobs during these difficult coronavirus times (which still bothers me to this day)

Meanwhile Caro penned a column in the age today urging the AFL to send Clarkson up to The Gold Coast.

I cannot trust Gil or the current AFL Commission as far as I could kick them.

Let’s agree to disagree. A player’s trade value is not only what they achieve to that point in time. There are projections for potential improvement in young players based on their traits and how they cope in a professional environment. It’s not just about runs on the board.

So if Dow played for an opposition club, would you pony up a top 10 pick for him?

This makes no sense whatsoever.

"He also became less sh*t

Lots of shorter slower fatter players have managed to get themselves to very high level fitness "

Theres a benchmark I can relate too. 😂

A player’s trade value is what one club is willing to give and what the other club is willing to accept.

Hes cents on the dollar right now. 3rd rounder at best unless we were trading him to ourselves. We'd probably give a 2nd rounder.

Depends what it means by "swap of second and third rounders". Swapping our second for their third would be overs. Swapping our second and third for their second and third is the most token of steak knives. Especially if one of those is just gonna be traded for Riccardi anyway.
Is Riccardi any relation to Peter?

Caroline Wilson is a respected journalist who confirmed that was the reason that Clarko walked away. I reckon there is a fair amount of truth it in.

With our history over the past 20 years, and the way we have treated coaches, why would he risk his alternate legendary status ? Carlton has ultimately put a stain on how people view Malthouse and Pagan.
Malthouse did that to himself.

Yet you stated we paid to much for Saad, now you want to hedge your bets, hilarious

As for Betts V Butler, one of those players are still in the system, both cost similar in trade value

So I can't say Saad is better than Hind whilst also holding the opinion that I think we over paid for him given the circumstances...

Yeah... you're back in the box mate...

Makes it very hard for us to assemble a coaching super team panel like a few posters here suggested tbh..

Agree with that.. my response was more about comparing Head Coach salaries to assistants. Soft cap cuts were always going to cut deep.
Clubs will still pay top dollar for a Head coach me thinks.
