I honestly couldn’t care less what Collingwood did or that we don’t conduct the standard coaching selection process. We tried that selection process last time and ended up with Bolton. Despite all the media fanfare, McRae could be a bust, who knows. I don’t care whether the AFL media boys club don’t approve of our approach, they will knock any move we make.

Our coaching panel sounds like a smokescreen to present some kind of process integrity which should appease the masses. In the background Headhunt the best candidate for the job. IMO it’s Clarko or Ross. If Clarko doesn’t want it, then welcome aboard Ross. Bring his crew in Hayes, Mcqualter, Hamill. Rob Harvey & Roo/Pavlich could also be great mentors for Walsh & Harry.

Why? The guy is without a job next year. It’s not like we are trying to poach him to break his contract.

if the choice is between unemployment and pension vs a remuneration north of half a million bucks it’s pretty clear isn’t it? Regardless of if he is joining a basket case or not (which lets admit could well be the driving factor / motivation besides the money in taking the job in the first place).

Clarko yes different story. If he came you would be confident it’s for the right reasons.

There is an interesting dilemma here. If Cook was to take over from Liddle as CEO, I am sure this could be attractive to someone like Clarko or other experienced coaches. However with Liddle on the selection panel we can't announce Cook as CEO until Liddle finishes the job of helping select the coach.

Yes, one month to sign a coach as per Sayers media timeline, one month until the Grand Final. Might actually work out okay!

When Stuart Dew passed on us and elected to stay assistant at Sydney we were missing out on the best coach of the next generation -- turned out he a pie eating outdoor pisser

Collingwood are doing a full rebuild, interviewing all the potential first time coaches.

We want an experienced coach, our search is very narrow with only a handful of candidates.

To be fair, I read a lot of similar comments on this board in recent months saying the same thing (cannot risk going with an untried coach again)
