Why are people against Chris Scott? He has a winning percentage above 70% I believe, coached a premiership, coached the cats to another grand final last year, consistently gets the cats into the top 4 and comes from a winning culture. Yes he has some smugness and prick about him but I think that’s what we need, he stands up for his players and his club, his an elite coach who would be a great get for this club

He is cooked. Publicly said ' it’s not a very good job' because of the stress. I totally get where he is coming from, I wouldn't want to do it either. But as a starting point, it would be good to get a coach who wants the job.

Take names and experienced vs inexperienced out of it. The aim is quite simply to find the best coach who can get this talented group to click. Don’t care if they’ve coached AFL premierships or only been an assistant coach for a short time. Put out expressions of interest, interview candidates, create a shortlist and maybe re-interview if need be. Someone may jump out of the box.
Clarkson was just an assistant before he became the master coach at Hawthorn. Ditto for Beveridge and Hardwick. Others like Matthews and Malthouse were able to have their best success as coaches in their second gig.
There’s no formula or script book for this. The best we can do is run a process that is comprehensive and covers all bases. Then we just hope the decision proves to be the right one.

I think the Hawks are paying out over two years.

Which is smart, as if Clarko gets a job in 2023, they're only out of pocket $450K.

If that's the case, then the 'getting paid $900K to sit on my arse for a year' incentive isn't quite as strong.

Paid $900,000 next year, but Hawks can spread the $900,000 over two years in their soft cap.

If the club is leaking day by day, then you are right.
If everything being reported is pure speculation, then the club has done nothing wrong.
If they are leaking, then clearly somebody internally is seeking to sabotage the current regime

Think he is a good communicator with a strong Footy IQ and a good, proven track record at an underresoucred club in North Melbourne.
Seems like a couple of years outside of coaching f has possibly whetted his appetite to be a senior coach again.

Yeah some of his game day antics in Coaches Box is annoying, but if Clarko knocks us backing, can we really afford to be picky ?

Honestly believe his coaching gameplan and demeanor suits our list.

Has the best H&A record of any recent coach, yet has lost 7 times in the first week of finals, as the side has finished top 4 with ease, there is something up with a coach who can’t get the job done in September.
