Bombersno1 2 round draft (Take 1)

I'd be happier taking Butcher, rather than the Jack Anthony "safe forward" clone... because we have tons of them waiting. I wouldn't even use #16 on Panos if he was available.

Not sure about Shephard.

I can see Port going 3 midfielders if Butcher isn't around.

No dramas, at least I know how you are thinking. I did consider Butcher at your pick and to be honest him and Rohan have the biggest question marks for me. I may give you Butcher when I do my full phantom draft (4 rounds) anyway, as I have already made changes to the first round due to feedback. I like the feedback.

You won't be disappointed with Shepphard let me tell you. Whether he goes there I am not sure. I know WCE are seriously considering him at pick 7, so he is a talent.

3 midfielders when you have to replace Tredrea is flawed with danger. Justin Westhoff and Ebert will not kick you a winning score.

Surely you're joking? I'd be kicking Tim Harrington and Barry Prendergast right in the testicles if they wasted 34 on Majak Daw.

Rookie pick if anything, he only looks good on a highlight reel.

Agreed, late rookie pick for mine. Very similar to Jurrah except even more raw. Don not have him on my top 60 players sheet that I base my phantom draft on. Have him going early in the rookie draft.

Roahn > Christensen

Hopefully for us Christensen falls to our second round. Doubtful though.

Not for mine. I know others don't but I have serious doubts as to whether Rohan will make it as a midfielder. No way would I want him at Essendon. Just frankly does not get the ball enough.

good to see you have included delisted players in the draft. Makes it more realistic.

The 1 pick i disagreed with was Carlton's. Can't see them going Jetta. This year they will certainly take the best tall on offer. Their midfield is so deep and they have picked up a few small fowrards last year. Surely they will take the best tall on offer.

Well the Luke Ball one is a pretty easy one to add, and Jesse Smith will be picked up between 30-45.

As for Carlton, I really don't know, I considered Black and Carlile, but Carlton always have the philosophy of best available, and they did pick up Henderson in the trade period.

As a Dees fan, would love the first three picks, but not sure either if Butcher will last until 11. Even if we got Butcher at 11, pick 18 would still be used on KPP IMO. Jurrah can play small, Watts is more a floating forward, so another forward would def help our team balance, with robbo, nieta gone and miller prob his last year next yr.

Paying a top 10 pick for a guy who averages less than 15 touches a game dead set spells "Tambling" to me.
And paying out on Tambling screams "lazy", "ignorant" and "outdated" to me. Averaged 21.5 touches a game in 09 FYI, and began to show just how damaging he can be.

(Majak Daw is) Very similar to Jurrah except even more raw..
... and Sudanese, not Aboriginal. And an undersized ruckman, not a natural footballer with beautiful skills... but apart from that...

Tambling might be damagaing. Point is at the time and still he shows flashes of brilliance. Personally showing flashes of brilliance is not good enough for a top 5 pick. I know it was a stronger draft but Rioli went 12 with a more solid game with more strings to his bow.

As for Majak, he is raw. Nothing more. Perfect rookie pick, might fail, might not. Won't go in the ND for mine.

wouldnt be surprised if we get ball with one of our second round picks, christensen at 10 wont happen, will be hoping he makes it to our 2nd rounders, alot better midfeilders to pick for 10, even gysberts, his foot skills are brilliant.

Hope we don't get Ball, ordinary footskills despite his heart. As for Christensen, he is a first rounder and if we want him we'll have to use 10. I give you one Patrick Dangerfield who was not rated a top 10 pick...

Great Draft! well done, definately one of the best I've seen.

Really like the idea of Tapscott going at 6, he is the kind of player that Sydney would love. As a demons fan this draft is almost too good to be true..Scully, Trengrove, Butcher, Vardy PERFECT!! (I would prefer Black ahead of Vardy but still I can't complain)

One criticism is of Rohan, if he slid, which he may, surely the dogs wouldn't pass him up given that they must be on the lookout for a electric and creative half forward given that aker and johnson must surely be hanging up the boots soon, I know they have hill and some other good prospects but given the huge nature of that loss (two of the games all time greats) some insurance must be bought and rohan would seem an ideal replacement!

Very good though!

Have to say, theres no way i can see Port taking Panos ahead of Butcher but i would've said the same thing re Hartlett and Rich last year, still though Butcher for me at 8 or 9. I can see Rohan and Sheppherd both ending up on Ports list, but i think if it happens, it will happen the otherway around with Rohan at 8,9 and Sheppherd at 16.

Ports P8 & 9 will be an interesting prospect.

Is the gap between Butcher and say Black/Panos/Talia etc more significant than the gap between Rohan/Tapscott and the mids availible at 16 ie Gysberts/Jetta etc.

IMO they will take say Tapscott, Butcher and say Gysberts. But it could very easily be that Tapscott, Rohan and Black as a better overall package...

I think with Butcher ur getting the best player in the draft for his position. With the mids its a coin toss from picks 6-18. Rohan and Tapscott look great but i'd be equally happy with Melksham and Stevens its that sort of draft. I've seen Sheppherd on draft pages as high as 6-7 and drift into the low 20's on others. I wouldn't be surprised to see Port take both Butcher and Talia at 8 & 9 and pick up the best remaining midfielder at 16 as they can then choose weather or not they want to develop Talia as a KPP or a mid.

Fair comment. Glad you are happy with the draft. I did consider Black at 18, I just feel you need a ruckman more than another KPP forward as I have given you Butcher at 11. Rohan is the one that I knew I'd get slammed for. It is just that I flat out don't rate him that highly. He only averages 14 or 15 disposals a game, which is poor. Hill who he was compared with, averaged a lot more disposals. I have Rohan going from 12-18. I ranked him at 13 actually, but I did fill from 13 onwards for needs. Good point on the Dogs, I will look into it for my 4 round draft (probably up in the next 2 weeks)

That would be an excellent tactic but I can also see Butcher going to North at 5. Would Port then go Talia-Black/Carlisle/Griffiths/Panos?
