In all honesty its really not that big a deal 18 spots and i trust our recruiters to find another gem like they have done last few years
But the thing is these clowns at the AFL actually have the nerve to just do what they like without an explanation thats the part that sh!ts us

There won't be any perfect system, you win some you lost some. Peoples just like to complain. Umpire is stupid, travel too much, players are spud, underrated, overrated., can't kick, slip over easily.

the old magic wheel strikes again. thats band 2 everyday of the week. that being said compo shouldnt exist so gaf lol.

Lol got lynch for nothing then complains about a second rounder for Ellis. Ended up ahead on both
Every free agent a club has gotten has gotten said player for free. It isn't exactly anything new or specific to Richmond.

And do you honestly think if Ellis was on the trade table (not free agency) the club would trade him for pick 40?

Then again you think Richmond getting Lynch for 'free' is a specific thing only to Richmond, tell me again, what did Sydney pay for Franklin?

Sydney were crucified for getting Buddy, sanctioned for no other reason than being smart, they paid plenty.

The AFL is flawed and if I was a Tigers fan I would be happy how it often works in your favour. You played almost the entire second half of the season at your home ground to hand you a flag

You need the cap-space, think you have cheaper equivalents in Naish and co coming through, so other clubs wouldn't overpay for Ellis - yeah I reckon he'd go for pick 30-40 ish.

A few things have become very apparent with outcomes like this:

- player salaries need to be disclosed to public, including relevant structure (wage by year of contract, 'ambassador allowances' or whatever)
- compensation for losing a free agent needs to be scrapped or the formula needs to be disclosed and consistent with absolutely zero input from AFL in terms of their 'discretion'

It's the only way to have a fair system, and having a governing body that openly treats teams differently based on their performance is disgraceful.

I'm all for a degree of equalisation measure but it needs to be disclosed and consistent.

Weaker clubs should simply have higher TPPs which taper off as they climb the ladder to allow those at the bottom to offer more money and attract better players.

Pick 39 for Brando is under, pick 19 is overs, but based on the alleged model of compensation there is no way Richmond can be appropriately compensated. Should be pick 25-30ish.

Players ability doesn’t come into it it’s purely on age and money the afl have basically given out first round picks or end of first round picks for every player who has gotten a similar contract to Ellis and even others that are paid less

Yet because Richmond have won the flag or got lynch the year before they have made up a bs rule and dropped compo a whole band

The reason they did it is because first round compo or end of first round would be the same pick for Richmond because we won the flag

12 months earlier Lycett the same contract and same years gets a first round pick after a premiership

Richmond win premiership Ellis gets the same deal somehow the compo is two bands lower seems legit

It’s absolute bulls**t and punishing a club for being successful
It's no such thing. Sure the afl have rigged it, but only to get a fair result. Richmond don't deserve first band compo for Ellis, compensation should be less than trade value, not more.
You guys have been overcompensated in the past (Vickery) and are just pissed off the afl aren't letting you exploit the system again.

We’re ‘exploiting’ the system by not being happy our compensation pick is in line with identical deals?

We can’t ‘exploit’ the system, we don’t have control over the pick.

But much to expect the compensation criteria to be applied equally hey?
