Re: Fev trade

edit:

1. i meant that nathan brown is needed for OUR backline so we wouldn't trade him.

2. also, the reason for medhurst leaving is that he is rumoured to entertain the idea of going back home to WA

Re: Fev trade

article in the herald sun today says that collingwood will not trade for fev so everyone can stop dreaming. besides carlton would want a lot for him and between his on and off field trouble and the fact he is 29 im not sure you can curb his ways at that age (he is stuck in his ways).....

That's just an opinion in the Herald-Sun though so it is neither right nor wrong. I have no doubt that Collingwood are currently considering the possibility because he fits a need.

I have no idea what Carlton would want. They may settle for a first round draft pick and a player such as Tyson Goldsack or Chris Dawes. Maybe Shannon Cox. Eddie McGuire is also one of Fevola's biggest supporters, and he is the president of Collingwood.

Re: Fev trade

I don't see why fev getting pissed and doing something stupid is such a concern.

I don't see how it will really negatively impact on the club tho, especially on premiership chances.

Er? Remember our sponsor with TAC? If we got Fev alot of people in the finance dept and Eddie would be praying to their god that Fev doesn't muck up or else sponsors won't be sticking around.

From the Sun ....
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/who-wants-carltons-brendan-fevola/story-e6frf8w6-1225780614919
"Included in Fevola's disgraceful behaviour on Brownlow night was sexual harassment of a young woman, a profanity-riddled spray on Judd, the smashing of a wine glass and an ugly animated attack on a highly regarded senior player from another club."

He is a serial offender, it wasn't just a bad night on the grog.

But having said that Cousins was the same risk and we at least talked to him about coming to Collingwod. With the very real chance of him getting the boot my mind has changed and the thought of him in our forward line booting goals, along with Jack and Medders kicking 50 as well ... OMG!! :thumbsu: If Fev learns off Medders to keep chasing then he is very dangerous indeed.

As mentioned by another poster (from the article), Collingwood is apparently not interested. WTF? We get linked to everything whether it's true or not so I wonder why we are not linked with Fev?

MM has handed out more than enough life lines at his time in Collingwood... heck probably at least 2 each year eg Brown and Corrie last year. He loves the idea of turning a player around and Medders is probably his best example. Fev doesn't need to redeem himself on the field though, it's the off field stuff and what better way for MM to earn his bucks (no pun intended) and coach Fev with off field responsibility ?

Not sure what I'd what to give up for him though besides a draft pick and Cookie + Stanners? If Leon wanted out maybe? Reid, Dawes and N Brown are required. Carlton need backmen dont' they? Maybe Cox might be in the mix?

It didn't say that we would trade for him. It was just an opinion

Re: Fev trade

Fev to Sydney.. O'Keefe to Victorian Club in a 3 way deal... Watch for a bigname backman to be in the deal

Good reliable source says this is being discussed as O'Keefe wants to be back in Melbourne.

There is more to the Fev stuff up and its related to Judd.

Re: Fev trade

Swans are the only ones who could fit him in their salary cap..and carlton because when has it stopped them before:D and he'd be on their veterans list in 2011.

We can't afford him on his current contract that would have to be honoured you'd think...money wise.

Gun player but he's 29 next year. 2 to 3 years left tops.

carlton will put him on the table & expect an early 1st rounder. All the teams with those picks are rebuilding, so carlton will say we put him on the table, got no decent offers, so we'll keep him.

Why not?
What was Rocca on?
I figured with all the retirements we've had in the last three seasons, we'd shit it in.

Most of those guys would have been on our veterans list. Bucks, Jimmy, Burnsy, Rooca. So only half of their salary counted towards our salary cap.

None of the other guys that left would have been on huge $$

Also Fev is on a backended contract, if any agreeable trade came up then Carlton would most likely pay a portion of his contract say 150k out of 700k he is beleived to be on.

Jimmy?? In any case, most guys wouldn't be on heaps of Biscuit so should have enough room easily.

Re: Fev trade

if fev is put up for trade after his brownlow medal behavior would you want him ? and what would you trade for him ?
i'd definately want him but have no idea what we could trade for him.
Any club would want him and are stupid not to if they could. He would be damaging at Collingwood. I don't rate Travis Cloke always hot and cold like all his brothers before him and the same thing with John Anthony. He might go well with Chris Dawes if he can make it.

There wouldn't be anyone i was interested getting to Carlton as a trade sure you have great players but they more midfield types we have.

Nathan Brown would be in the deal with whatever at a starting point.

Re: Fev trade

If he is forced out, that is abloody good deal for both carlton and Collingwood

Although he is 29, our window is open now and he would be the PERFECT fit onfield.

If he can get his s*** together off-field, which Collingwood can help him with, then we should have no hesitations...

Please get him Collingwood!

I think they take Nathan Brown before Chris Dawes but i still keep Fevola.

I wouldn't trade him for anyone unless its a swap for Jonathan Brown or one of the bottom side first pick and a player.

I take Sydney first pick 6 and Lewis Johnston at least that way 1 of those picks may come good but both could end up duds for a champion who easily can play another 5 seasons. He is 28 not 29,thats next year and surely can play till 33 at Full Forward.People have to remember he was a bit lazy at the beginning, really only been on fire the last 5 years has many years left if he stays fit.Tony Lockett played to 35 or something and he was rather big.

Re: Fev trade

I think Fev has stuck it to the snobs, Starchamber (classy name), but in the process has made his captain look like a dill. Where was Judd's famed leadership when Fev was shaming his poor wife and letting down himself and his club? Judd was going along with it - clearly awkward and uncomfortable, but he didn't seem to have a clue what to do about it. So all this trade talk may be no more than a sop to his tattered ego. We'll see.

I wouldn't mind Fev. He's stupid and can't hold his drink, but he has a good heart. If Eddie gave him house room, and if MM or Buckley could be persuaded to waste their time on him, he might come good. Carlton's notoriously corrupt culture hasn't helped him.

If we were making room for J.Brown last year, Fev's coin should fit in imo.

Re: Fev trade

At least if he comes to Collingwood we can start holding our own AA meetings, with the amount of Alcohol fueled incidents we have had with current players, Fev would feel right at home.

* And AA there doesnt stand for All Australian.

Re: Fev trade

If you remember the look on Fev's face after Brisvegas knocked them out of the finals...I believe he was thinking "I have to get out of this club."

Maybe he is not so dumb and he has a cunning plan.

If this is true, I must admit I'm a little pissy. He could add real value to our list... I suppose it all depends on the price Carlton are asking.

Re: Fev trade

Eddie said on triple M yesterday after pushing from Darcy that we would be stupid if we didnt at least look at him

Re: Fev trade

With the paper talk when collingwood is interested in a player its crap. When ever we are not interested we are interested. Good lets play our cards close to our chest.

Its been a nice change this year, apart from davey (who even then we only had a apassing interest in), we have been very quiet and linked with no one

Thank Christ for Hawthorn

and their cap room! If they get even a few of the players thy are purported to be chasing, can you imagine the sh1tfight that will develop over the next couple of years re their salary cap?

maybe... but over the next couple of years our senior players will retire. at the end of 2010 i can see the following go:

lockyer, johnson, o'bree, presti (and who knows about josh?) rocca has already retired and corrie, who although doesn't get much of a run, is still 25 and could be getting around 200k per year may be delisted.

didak and leon qualify for veterans list- as does josh and maybe maxwell (who as collingwood captain will be up with the higher paid players)- not sure if heath shaw does and not shaw when Swan will- but they would be the next biggest paid.

we have money in our cap.
