Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Yeah, but we really need a big goal kicking forward NOW. Fev will still kick 60+ goals next season and 2011, but Dawes won't IMO.

So I'm happy to give up Dawes in order to get Fev, but I don't think it'll happen anyway.

I still don't rate Dawes very highly. If he could get a Fevola deal over the line, I would praise Jesus.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

I will literally vomit if he goes to Collingwood but you would be insane not to throw everything at Carlton to get him. Dawes will not get the job done.

He isnt coming to Collingwood, for the very reason you mentioned.

Imagine Fev comes to the pies, kicks 90+ goals next year and we win the flag, what happens to Greg Swann, Kernahan, Ratten etc?

They get the lynch mob treatment and are chased out of Carlton.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Could Collingwood actually take a risk this trade period and get Fev instead off coming up with reasons not to take him he will give us a big chance of winning a premiership.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

And the horses are on the track...

What works in our favour is his age, our premiership window, his phat contract and Sydney's rebuild.

Only those with a real chance in the next three years would bother with Fev. That is basically this years top 5. Adelaide have a great forward line already and the rest are below us in picks. Below us, Brisbane already have expensive power forwards and Essendon are too far away.

While the papers have waxed about Sydney's salary cap, we can definitely fit Fev in if we could fit Brown in last year.

Sydney have also indicated they are desperate to keep their first pick for a quick mid. If that's the case, we're definitely close to pole position.

What will get it done? Obviously pick 14 plus a young forward and some fringey. In any case, it's eminently do-able. C'mon Collingwood, nab this man!

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

It's going to take a bit. We would obviously need to package pick 14, Dawes and probably even another talented player probably the likes of Wellingham.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

A possible scenario:

Collingwood Lose: Pick 14, Leon, Dawes
Carlton Lose: Fevola
West Coast Lose: Mckinley, pick 24

Collingwood Gain: FEVOLAAAA, pick 24 (if not carlton get that)
Carlton Gain: Mckinley, Pick 14, Dawes and (pick 24)
West Coast Gain: Leon

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Fev is the answer to our problems. We have lacked that powerful forward player who can take a game into their own hands and kick a handful of goals consistantly. I would really love to see him in our team next year, and he could be the missing piece of the COllingwood premiership puzzle.

I'm sure Mick would be onto this, speically since he is nearing the end of his coaching period. And apparently Eddie is fond of him, so that's alright.

I'll be ecstatic if we land him. I couldn't give a toss about his off field antics, this is what we need right now. Trading Davis and Dawes wouldn't really phase me, because Davis hasn't proved anything in the finals series, and Dawes is yet to deliver.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

A few questions to all of us out there,

Who is going to kick 70 to 100 goals for the pies next year. NO ONE.

Who is going to kick 50 to 60 goals for the pies next year. WE WOULD BE LUCKY

We need a full forward, we need Fev and we bloody well need a premiership.

Fev = at least 30 to 50 extra goals next year around 2.2 extra goals per game, so how many games did we lose by under 2.2 goals this year, and did you notice the grass was longer in the games Fev played in and did you.......... ooooooooh, JUST GET HIM into a black and white jumper PLEASSSSSSSSE

Jack Anthony, Paul Medhurst are the only 2 players we have who are capable of kicking 50+ in a year.

Jack is almost certain to improve on his return this year (50).

But I don't disagree, Fev would provide us with goal power, but I just doubt whether Carltank will trade "fairly" with their arch enemy.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Those lads in the midfield just need more experience, plus we needed Pendles. We'll see what happens.

Fev is the answer to our forward line structure. If he was firing each week, Anthony and Cloke would both not feel so pressured to deliver, which I think is one of the main problems with each of them. They begin to doubt themselves.

Re: Fev trade

Carlton are lacking in quality, tall defenders (think Leroy & Thoolen), and could do with stengthening their midfield (think Stanners & Cook), so combine these four with pick 62, and I'm sure they'd bite :D

But seriously, I'd LOVE for us to get Fev, but I am scared $h!tle$$ that if it eventuated we'd end up giving up too much. The only players that I WANT to leave the club are the ones that would be worth zero trade value. At least it looks like being a more intersting trade week than in previous years........

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Wouldn't mind getting him but not at the expense of Dawes,Reid and Nath Brown.I would defintely throw Leon into it has done nothing in finals so we could organise something with a west australian side. I don't think Carlton would want him to be playing for Collingwood anyways so i dont think it's gonna happen but give it a crack and see what happens :D

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Midfield was actually good this year and Geelong mangled us not just in the centre but all over the ground. We were missing Pendles too.

In any case, this doesn't prevent us from chasing Ball or similar with 2nd pick etc. Fev plus Ball plus Charman with pick 3 should about be the trifecta.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

Dawes + 14 + Davis (on-traded) sounds about right to me, and I'd definitely bite.
I think the deal can be done with one young player such as Chris Dawes, and he first draft pick. Carlton sounds like they will take what they can get, so it's just a matter of offering what they want compared to other teams that may also be interested in him. If two players are involved, such as Leon Davis and Dawes, then the second draft pick should be used.
Do not ****ing trade Reid or Dawes.
Reid and Nathan Brown are the two I want to keep ahead of Dawes.

Ummm, Jack Anthony kicked 50 goals this year, so he could do it again. He could also do it again with Fev in the team because he will not got Scarlett or Lake next time like he did twice against both teams this season. Collingwood get the ball inside-50 plenty, but we need someone else such as Fev to make the most of that.

Re: Blues to trade Fevola

If we keep playing wide and take too long to bring the ball into the forward line, Fev won't make as big a difference as we would hope! They need to start bringing the ball through the middle earlier
