Re: Fev trade

Busy all morning, ooooh. Lots to say.

Totally agree with dropping the smart arse proposals. I'd be prepared to risk an overly bullish trade to reel this big bass.

Obviously we lock in pick 14 and I don't imagine it would be too hard for us to get involved in a trade to land Everitt or Spangher. I think if we offered pick 14, Dawes and Everitt for Fev and say 3rd pick, we'd have to be close. The only tall timber not on the table is Anthony, Reid and Brown.

If Lake dissapears from Dogs, then we might interest them in a Goldnuts for Everitt which is more than fair.

Re: Fev trade

No no no. Collingwood + Fev = a Magpies flag, and this cannot be allowed to be happen.

Absolute last destination I want him to end up.
i dont think what you want is really taken into account:D

I suspect that would do it.

Some of you guys talking about pick 14 only, need to get a grip, or rather, loosen it. Will not happen.

"I think if we offered pick 14, Dawes and Everitt for Fev and say 3rd pick.."

Everyone is a winner.

If he helps you get a flag, what will you care?

Re: Fev trade

Whether he stays or goes, just have a ****ing crack at him. It's about time we really had a dip. If the deal isn't going to work in our favor, then pull back. If he isn't going to be budged from Carlton, at least we haven't let him find his way the another premiership contender to improve their list.

If we let him get to another club in contention that is not us, then we are massive knob lickers.

You're in gold form today Didaka :D :thumbsu: An yes I agree with all that!!!

Re: Fev trade

Greg Denham said on sen this morning (yes i know know sen), that carlton will take an offer for less then fevola is worth if it means they have to pay none of his salary.

They only want a top 10 pick plus sweetener if they still have to pay part of his contract. Basically carlton want fevola and his contract gone.

Meaning this trade has become one hell of alot more feasible

I like the sound of that!!!

Although I think Sydney would be able to pay his whole salary also.

If they offer say O'Keefe and all of his salary it could get tricky but they don't want to give up their first rounder (if they did we would be f-arked).

What would Carlton prefer over pick 14 + Dawes or O'Keefe and theri second rounder?? I think thats when guys like Medhurst or three way deals may be involved.

Paul Roos has said they will not be making a play for Fevola, as have the doggies..

Which leaves Saints, Collingwood and Brisbane.

Highly doubt Saints would disrupt a team that is on the up and have just made a grand final with Kosi and Riewoldt.

Then there is Brisbane with Bradshaw and Brown.

I'd say we are in a pretty good position to land Fev.

Trade for Spangher, picks 14, Spangher and Dawes.

Re: Fev trade

I highly doubt Lake will be moving.

Also Barry and Croad great? Good maybe but deffinately not great. I think Nate Brown will end up every bit as good as the two you have listed above.

Also having teams that win the flag generally means the midfield is winning it's fair share of the ball making it easier for defenders.

Re: Fev trade

With only 3 clubs in the mix and Carlton seemingly desperate to hand him off it would have to be one of the biggest trade week failures in history to not get him. Pay his salary, give them what they want (within reason) and we've got ourselves a premiership to win.

Re: Fev trade

arghh, can see it now. S O'B and Beeny J screaming through the middle and hitting a leading Fev on the left tit. The sight is just wonderful and clear

I don't know if Fevola wants to leave Melbourne though, and I don't believe he feels they can win a premiership either. Because he is a contracted player, Carlton are forced to deal with a preferred club or they are stuck with his salary.

Fevola must agree to play for Sydney first. I don't know if he will do that. Sydney won't part with their first pick anyway.

Trade for Spangher, picks 14, Spangher and Dawes.

Do you have a link to that top line??? As far as I understand it he said he wont be trading his first rounder which is different from saying they wont chase Fev - just with the first rounder off the table it makes it harder.

Very insightful

I don't think Fevola agreeing to go to Sydney would be such a stretch though. It would be the sort of place that would suit him and where he would be less likely to get into trouble. But I hope you are right - it would make it alot easier for us to get a trade done.

Re: Fev trade

I reckon Vezpremi would be on Carlton's radar. Pat has already signed a deal to stay at the Swans, and it is for huge money....but Carlton have always been keen on him. They could call it even in terms of paying out the contracts.

Pat I know wanted to play for a Vic side. However, he now has a GirlFriend in Sydney and is settling in quite nice. Plus he is on a great contract with prospects to earn more considering the big names that are leaving the club. But I know Carlton are interested in him.

I have a source, obviously not going to say it.

It seems to me that he wants to play for either Collingwood or St.Kilda at this stage. The two other clubs that may be interested are Brisbane and Sydney, but because he is contracted, he must agree to that. That could change, so if Collingwood are interested in him, then they must try to sell the club to him as well as let him know that any shit will not be tolerated.

Sydney wouldn't part with him I don't think. I'm sure there are a number of Collingwood players that Carlton are interested in as well that we won't part with.

Re: Fev trade

I can't be bothered reading all 25 pages so pardon me if someone has already brought this up.

In the past, we missed out on a couple of great full forwards who could have been the difference. We didn't get Bernie Quinlan and we didn't get Tony Lockett. While Fev is damaged goods off the field, he is gold on it. As someone mentioned earlier, we could either wait 2-3 years and develop our own, or make an instant improvement and see how it pans out.

Carlton need defenders, so Ben Reid might be a good straight swap and has 10 years left in the game, he will never be a forward. Dawes is also a possibility for a straight swap. We need to keep Nathan Brown.

What I find funny is Carlton people saying he is worth more than x or y, considering they got Judd for pick 2 (or was it 3) and Kennedy.

Re: Fev trade

I've read a few different threads and Carlton supporters are just being plain stupid on some of them. Some guy mentioned Sidebottom which definitely won't happen but they seem to forget what they gave up to get Judd when he's a much better player and was younger then what Fevola is.Will be interesting next week :)

Yep, that's the word on the street.
