I've got no idea really.....I was being sarcastic, to the fact that none of them seem too keen at all to help us get our facilities.

Gotta love Pollies eh?;)

Bring on Jackie and Pauline!:p

Exactly, I’m in Camp Hill and same same. Was discussing with the girl tonight and both of us find it a tad strange.

Possibly because a lot of these inner south suburbs were very working class in the 70's & 80's. I know gentrification started the mid to late 80's in Coorparoo, with a lot of the old Queenslanders being sold and renovated, and followed suit through Greenslopes and Holland Park. So went from blue collar to white collar suburbs.

Now Greenslopes and Camp Hill are both going through another renovating boom, plus more and more townhouse complexes as well. Can't believe some will pay $900k for a townhouse in Greenslopes.

I'm not sure how much blue collar and white collar influence voting patterns. Today many white collar people will come from blue collar parents, benefiting from our cheaper Uni fees. So if they have the same values as their parents, could very well lean towards labour.

At least One Nation is going badly. I remember their 11 seats in the 1998 election being a major influence for my move to Singapore...

Labor: please give lots of money to the Lions and science, and leave the tennis courts alone at Kelvin Grove State College.

Labour won't give shit.
QLD is broke.

Need to break the tension here with a few Pakistani cricketer name pronounciations.

I have noticed the change in the title of the thread. Have i missed something?

The club has said the actual training facility is fully funded, but the community facilities and stadium seating was dependent on state funding (with corresponding federally matched funding). Given the ALP is the most likely winner and didn't commit to funding... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

at least we'll find out where the ALP will finally draw a line on spending. Hopefully 'non committed' doesn't mean 'no', but there aren't enough Lions voters for 'no' to be a worry for them.

We're not getting any funding from Labor. Just my "gut feel".

Ask a Labor member how they justify QLD Labor putting $140m funding up for the Cowboys new stadium (And federal Labor has committed a further $100m funding if elected), as opposed to regional rail and road funding.

When they'e finished talking about the economic benefit for Townsville, ask them why they then won't spend $15 million on a womens AFL stadium and community sports precinct.

First response will be to gag swallow their laugh.

First question they'll ask is who owns the stadium and what long term economic benefit is there to the government in such a project. Next they'll ask if the games are still free to attend and when will the AFL start charging admission.

It may be that Labor didn't want to announce any big spending especially in Labor heartland. Doing that would open themselves up to the Labor=spending stereotype and really wasn't going to win them many votes. Or is that being a bit hopeful?

My hope is that they want to announce it mid-season for the AFLW thinking it will garner more press then. I think it was unlikely to be enough to swing an electorate in light of the bigger flashpoints (Adani, One Nation etc) so they might've held fire until they'd actually get some value for it.

It will be interesting to see how long the club holds out before commencing construction for the T&A centre.

Understanding the considerable cost savings gained when building the stadium inline with the T&A what will this delay be worth ??

Do they wait until parliament resumes next year and continue to have a crack at funding ??

What is acceptable to the members/players ? any delay now is compoundable in the future surly….

The above is the next lot of questions that need be asked IMO
