I sent the club's suggested email to the Premier's office, who have just responded. It includes this:
Doesn't sound like a commitment is coming, guys.
While the budget for 2017-18 for sporting facilitates across the state
is already committed, a re-elected Palaszczuk Government will certainly
consider the $65 million commercial proposal for new training facilities
for the Lions and a playing field for the women's team at Springfield
for funding in the 2018-19 budget.
The commercial partner with the Brisbane Lions and the AFL is the
Springfield Land Corporation. The current $65 million proposal seeks
contributions of $12 million from the Ipswich City Council, $15 million
from the Queensland state government and $10 million from the Federal
government.
The Brisbane Lions will open their 2018 AFL Women's season with a
blockbuster grand final rematch against the Adelaide Crows at Norwood
Oval in Adelaide on 3 February 2018. The match will be a golden
opportunity for the Lions to gain revenge after suffering such a narrow
loss to the Crows in the 2017 AFLW Grand Final.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her government wish the AFL women's
competition every success.
Doesn't sound like a commitment is coming, guys.
