Yeah at some point the "discount rate" principle of cost benefit analysis has to come into it.

Does the value of spending the funding in the hand now exceed the cost savings that would be made by waiting and trying to do the whole stadium setup at once.

I know for a fact that Anastacia has recently been approached personally about the need for a home for netball and for womens' AFL and that her response was quite positive. However, forget the AFL thing- never a big winner out there in League land.

Whether the probable Premier's initial reaction might, might, translate to actual funding is obviously unknown although surely by now we must have all by now come to the realisation that pushing the Lions AFL angle isn't exactly a winner out there in punter land. Even the Gabba redevelopment was, IIRC, based mainly on cricket and funded off the back of one-off pokie hikes.

Paradoxically, with the poll now out of the way, and with no need to cater for great unwashed this might be the best time to secure backing. After all, it's not a huge amount. As an aside, nothing like, for example, the dough the AFL is shoving out to GWS and the GC.
