Just curious - how does a public access gym work alongside the need for our AFLW and AFL squads using the gym for training?

Suspicion would be "public access when not reserved for the team", depending on the size. Makes a degree of sense given it could be an income stream for 80% of the day that it's not in use.
The reference to the employment of "over 200 full time staff" seems very bullish.
Probably. They'd be adding in every man, dog, barista, gym monitor, groundskeeper, janitor, etc, to get to that IMO.

Probably includes all of the club staff.
As well as a public access gym, pool, child care services, cafe, probably another Lions shop, Groundsmen and women.

The public access gym and wellness centre are, I believe, separate to the players-only gym in the main building.

The amazing indoor training area, 60m long I believe, and will have cameras in the roof amongst other sites to ensure that players' skills can be reviewed from all possible angles. This area can be viewed from all of the players training rooms and the coaches offices. The gaps in the walls on the upper left and lower right will be filled with louvers to enable fresh air to flow through the venue and assist with cooling, and large overhead heavy-duty fans will be installed in the roof. Fitzroy and Brisbane (AFLM/AFLW) premiership flags will be draped along the right wall.

By the way, someone asked Jake if the grandstand had been named yet. He said no, but in a cagey enough way that made me think that a decision might have been reached behind the scenes, or that at least discussions have been had.

The Chris Fagan Stand

The oval itself is already named after him so I doubt it.
Now that you mention that I do recall it.

thanks for the photos, looking a treat!

Does anyone remember/know the future plans for the surrounding blocks of land? I hope those trees in the background stay, for a nice view from the grandstand. I remember some old planning documents and it seems they were wanting to fill up the region with some developments etc but not sure whats going on in the closer vicinity.
