Danger tackled him long after the ball
Was gone. Grundy didn't.

Completely irrelevant where the ball is. Read the MRP ruling on Dangerfield - the fact Kreuzer no longer had possession is not even mentioned.

Grundy pinned both of Brown's arms and slammed him head first into the turf, not preventing him from bracing his fall.

The impact of Danger's tackle was labelled medium - Kreuzer walked off the ground and was BOG today. Given Brown was stretchered off and is now in hospital, the impact of Grundy's tackle has to be cited as severe.

You Collingwood supporters are in for a nasty surprise on Monday afternoon.

Brown put his head into the turf when he didn't need to. At no stage did Grundy slam him. Brown almost bounced his head back and forth which shows it wasn't Grundy who motioned the action.

He'll get off and I'll be bumping this thread on Monday :)

Based on current system he wouldn't get 2 even if guilty. 1 would be the max.

You're wrong.

Careless conduct, high contact, high impact.

3 weeks down to 2 - as per current MRP guidelines.

If it's judged as severe impact he's straight off to the tribunal, which is extremely unlikely.

Oops! Hawks hate it when others get more attention than them.

Oops! If you want to find out about Brown you need to go to another source. This is where we lament the death of football and the Brownlow yap yap yap.

So they both drove a players head into the ground and caused injury?

According to the AFL this means weeks off

I think he is a chance to get off

I think there was two actions in the danger incident which led to the suspension 1-the tackle 2-then slam/draginto the ground and the ball was released much earlier.

Players have to learn that it is not your intent - it's the outcome. If you pin the arms (and especially hold / pull back one of the arms) then you are responsible for the outcome...simple. It is no longer the 1980's. Just like defenders had to adjust the way they did the spoil and not take the arms any longer....so do the tacklers. Same as how everybody has had to adjust the way they bump. You can still do a forceful tackle and not end it with a forceful thud in to the ground. Tackler beware....and accountable...!

He'll get off. This is how the cycle goes:
Media identifies issue->AFL get sucked in so have to find a single hoop jumpered player to make an example of->non-Geelong players continue to do identical actions with no consequence.

Pretty sure Geelong are not the only club that has had a player suppended through a dangerous tackle. I await your evidence.

This needs to stop!!

A serious injury waiting to happen with these tackles.

Anyone that thinks it's the perfect tackle is totally ignorant to the fact that these tackles are regarded as dangerous and players will be suspended.

You're right this does need to stop. I mean players clearly need to be more conscious and make a concerted effort to not pin the arms when tackling, even if it is to the detriment of their team and allows opposing players to safely relinquish possession of the ball when tackled. Grundy clearly should have let Brown go, in spite of the fact the ball was still in his possession, before he hit the ground and rest easy knowing that even though Brown probably would have been able to deliver the ball inside 50 or at the very least maintain clear possession for his team (for which Grundy would have been berated by fans, commentators and his coach), at least he wasn't accidentally hurt in any way shape or form.

With the AFL constantly trying to speed up the game, the surfaces the games are play on (especially Etihid Stadium) are way too hard, causing the concussions. It's not the tackles that are the issue here.

Brown went to hospital in an ambulance no way he gets off three weeks down to two minimum.
